The Invisible Kitchen becomes palpable

Gütersloh/Milan, April 4, 2016 No. 047/2016

Alongside its official presentation at Eurocucina, Miele is set to stage a spectacular live show in downtown Milan

Miele's 'The Invisible Kitchen' event promises an exciting journey to the kitchen of the future. The event to be staged by Miele in the Zona Tortona is not a conventional product presentation but rather an exciting journey into the future of the kitchen. The kitchen is interconnected, convenient and guarantees even greater enjoyment of cooking. It promises untold pleasures – and assistance when necessary.

'The Invisible Kitchen' for instance suggests recipes or shows how to create delicious dishes from what might be considered leftovers. And, when it comes to the crunch – for example when milk threatens to boil over, an empty pan overheats on the hob or ingredients are incorrectly measured – the invisible kitchen swoops in to prevent a misadventure. In other words, a faithful and virtual assistant shadowing its owner through the entire food preparation process. 'Primarily, the purpose of 'The Invisible Kitchen' is to promote creativity and animate users to experiment and tread new ground, even going as far as taking account of a budding chef's individual expertise and preferences', says Miele chief designer Andreas Enslin. The requisite technology results from various blue-sky development projects at Miele's in-house design centre, but steps discreetly back and remains deliberately low-key. Enslin: 'The system is tantamount to being a cooking adviser. It provides me with the assistance I need when I am unsure of myself before things start to go wrong.'

The heart and soul of the presentation in the Zona Tortona is an arena weighing several tonnes with a diameter of 8 m. Visitors find themselves centre-stage and experience first-hand just how simple the preparation of a three-course menu can be. The installation is the work of the Whitevoid agency. As specialists for theatrical productions they made a name for themselves with their Berlin Border Lights installation to mark 25 years of the breaching of the Berlin wall. The Emporio site (Via Tortona 31) is open from April 12 to April 16 between 10h00 and 17h00 (open until 15h00 on April 17).

Miele has even created its own microsite to cover 'The Invisible Kitchen'. This will be constantly updated and will offer up-to-the-minute texts, images and video content on the future of cooking in English and Italian: https://theinvisiblekitchen.miele.com/

More information will be posted on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook

More current domestic appliance technology will be on display at Miele's Eurocucina stand (FTK hall 11, Stand A14/A20). Here, the new ArtLine built-in appliance series - a completely handleless kitchen - will be staging its debut. Miele's new G 6000 EcoFlex fleet of dishwashers lead the field in terms of energy efficiency. Innovative cooker hoods and attractive complementary cooking and refrigeration products round off the product portfolio. At the centre of the 760 m² exhibition is a spacious café seating 80. Live cooking demonstrations will take place in two active kitchens.
