Three 2015 iF Design Awards for Miele

No fewer than three products from Miele recently received the world-renowned iF Design Award: refrigerators and freezers from the K 30.000 generation, washer-disinfectors from the PG85 series and the PW 5136 MopStar mop washer.

The innovative FlexiLight feature, guaranteeing glare-free lighting on K 30.000 refrigeration products, swayed an international jury of experts in Miele's favour. The lighting source is integrated into the glass shelves and is activated via contacts at each rack level. This provides customised lighting to suit the contents of the fridge. In addition to this, this model series has touch controls which allow the convenient adjustment of temperatures. A further feature: The materials used and the stark and clear lines of the puristic design perfectly match those of other Miele kitchen appliances.

Commercial washer-disinfectors from the PG85 series for hospitals, surgeries and laboratories also received an award. These high-performance machines from Miele Professional are fitted with AutoOpen, an automatic door opening system, and a salt container in the door, allowing easy refilling without having to stoop – even when a machine is full. The new console with its centred display providing an uninterrupted sheet-steel surface guarantees a simple and easy-to-clean user interface. Further aspects considered in awarding prizes were the baskets and inserts which adapt to varying loads.

The third Miele product was the PW 5136 MopStar commercial washer-extractor, a mop washer designed to meet the needs of contract cleaners. Special-purpose wash programmes are tailored to the needs of mops and cleaning cloths.

Since 1953, the iF Design Competition has been a trend indicator, highlighting design excellence and developments which point to the future. In the course of this year, there have been almost 5000 submissions from around 2000 participants from 53 nations. In total, the iF label was awarded to around 1500 products by the jury.
