For large laboratories – simple operation, safe instrument reprocessing

Gütersloh/Munich, May 10, 2016 No. 031/2016

Maximum capacity in the large cabinet lab washer

In large laboratories complex treatment processes require efficiency in reprocessing of laboratory glassware. Therefore Miele's PG 8527 large cabinet lab washer is offering convenience, safety and maximum capacity.

This lab washer features freely programmable Profitronic+ controls and a simple and convenient PerfectTouch display. The display and the controls are set in a perfectly flush glass screen, allowing simple and effective surface disinfection. A standard feature is the PerfectSpeed Sensor spray arm control unit which monitors and documents the precise rotational speed of spray arms. Loading mistakes resulting in an obstruction of the spray arm are detected at the start of the programme. Checks are also made to ensure that rotational speeds are within defined ranges in order to obtain best cleaning results. A dispensing volume control system under the name of PerfectFlow offers much greater safety than previous systems. This system is in a position to dispense detergents and process chemicals with great precision, irrespective of the viscosity of the fluid and ambient temperatures which may influence fluid flow properties.

Even the slightest traces of residue in rinse water can seriously impair reprocessing results. The controls on this new line of machines can be programmed to warn operatives in the event that the conductivity in the last rinse cycle is out of range with respect to user-defined values. If this is the case, further rinse cycles can be added automatically. With this generation of machines, Miele is offering an absolutely maintenance-free conductivity metering system, incurring no further costs for maintenance and calibration. This system is integrated into the water circuit but is contact-free, i.e. it does not come into direct contact with water in circulation.

Further innovations ensure enhanced hygiene and improved user convenience. These include the new cove-cornered cabinet made from high-grade stainless steel with sloping horizontal surfaces designed to induce self-draining and improve hygiene. Optimum hygiene is also guaranteed during the drying phase. A high-temperature HEPA filter at the entrance to the cabinet prevents for example the introduction of particulate contamination into the cabinet.

The safe reprocessing of laboratory glassware such as pipettes, beakers, Erlenmeyer flasks is guaranteed using the tried-and-tested modular system consisting of mobile injector units, baskets and inserts. Items such as wide-necked bottles and petri dishes are held secure during reprocessing in specially designed inserts.

In addition to the tried-and-tested 'Standard', 'Universal' and 'Intensive' programmes, the machine is also equipped with the 'Anorganica' and 'Organica' special programmes. Furthermore, the machine also features thermal disinfection programmes, permitting laboratory glassware from microbiological or clinical laboratories contaminated with microorganisms to be disinfected with an adequate margin of safety. Miele's new lab washer sports a network interface for process documentation as a regular feature and can be linked to process documentation software.
