Hooded dishwashers from Miele perform better – and consume less

Gütersloh/Hamburg, March 13, 2015 No. 031/2015

Effective cleaning and filtration plus heat recovery

Perfectly washed crockery and cutlery combined with considerably reduced energy costs: This is achieved by hooded tank dishwashers by Miele Professional under the title PG 8172. Four standard and four additional 'Eco' versions are sparing in their use of resources all along the line – for example through the use of heat recovery for the first time.

Low energy consumption, short programme cycles and top-class results all belong together. Thanks to variable spray pressure, load-specific programmes take the gentlest of care of cutlery, crockery and glassware. For optimum water quality, a turbidity sensor and the full-flow filter system ensure that the wash water is continuously cleaned. Even finest particles such as coffee powder are reliably filtered out of circulation. This automatically reduces the number of water changes needed per day.

Besides that, all hooded tank washers are fitted as standard with a waste-water heat exchanger. This system uses the latent heat in waste water to heat incoming cold water in the next cycle along. This alone achieves energy cost savings in the order of 10%.

Alongside a larger waste-water heat exchanger, the 4 'Eco' versions in the PG 8172 model series also feature a waste-air heat exchanger. In this system, the cold water intake is first heated by heat transfer from waste air before passing through the waste-water heat exchanger. The required temperature is achieved by further heating in the boiler. This achieves a further 20% reduction in electricity costs. With such potential savings, the additional outlay for the 'Eco' version is capitalised within the space of 3 years. The 'Eco' versions also ensure that less hot, moist air is released to atmosphere, thereby contributing to a significant improvement in the room micro-climate.

The touch display makes for an intuitive interface, providing easy access to additional information such as tips and tricks and an on-board set of operating instructions. Pictograms allow operation irrespective of language, with further support provided by a colour-coded 'Start' button. Colour changes from red to green or blue provide a report on the machine’s status. The ergonomic handle and the optional features, including automatic hood release at the end of a programme, simplify daily work. Regular cleaning is simplified by an extended self-cleaning programme and the hygienic design of the machine interior.

With a wide range of settings, the PG 8172 can be optimised to suit specific requirements. Alongside the standard wash-cycle parameters, presentation of programmes in the display can be customised and the machine set to switch on and off automatically at pre-set times.
