Laboratory glassware reprocessing – A practical guide
Gütersloh/Hamburg/Mainz, December 10, 2014No. 173/2014
New brochure from Miele Professional, Dr. Weigert and the Duran Group
How can laboratory glassware be reprocessing safely, without residues and at the same time in a way which goes gentle on materials? These and many other questions are addressed by the new laboratory glassware reprocessing brochure due for publication in German and English.
Co-publishers are Miele Professional in Gütersloh, Dr. Weigert in Hamburg and the Duran Group in Mainz, all members of the German laboratory glassware reprocessing working group (AK LAB) which has been in existence since 2012 and devotes itself to all aspects relating to the reprocessing of laboratory glassware and equipment. This group has now decided to share its expert knowledge with other laboratory experts in a brochure aimed at users. The new brochure was developed as a set of guidelines for all laboratories reprocessing utensils made from glass and other materials on a daily basis – from labs in schools and universities through to laboratories in the fields of genetic engineering and pharmaceuticals.
Readers are provided with key information on the materials from which laboratory supplies are made and their specific properties. The brochure provides information on the grades of water purity required and gives guidance on the process chemicals most suitable for reprocessing laboratory glassware. This booklet by and for specialists presents practical applications and makes recommendations as to suitable reprocessing methods as well as providing notes on how to check results, avoiding mistakes and rectifying errors.
Anyone faced with the task of planning a new laboratory or refurbishing an existing one will find valuable information in Section 10 on planning reprocessing rooms and organising workflow.
The 76-page brochure is available with immediate effect in German or English and can be obtained from ak.lab@icloud.com for the price of € 15, excluding packaging and shipping costs.
The first print run will provide 7000 copies of the brochure's initial edition.
