New award for all dryers with the HygieneDry drying stage

Gütersloh, September 15, 2022 No. 088/2022
  • Highest rating in this product category

  • Reliable removal of 99.9%* of enveloped viruses (MVA test challenge**)

A year ago, Miele received three seals of approval for virucidal efficacy in the categories laundry care, dishwashing and ironing. These are now joined by a further award. All dryers which feature the HygieneDry drying stage will receive the seal in silver, the highest award in this product category. This drying stage is suitable for all textiles with two dots on the care label and ensures the reliable removal of viruses through high temperatures (approx. 70°C) and a long temperature holding time. The 'Cottons' programme in combination with HygieneDry removes 99.9%* of so-called enveloped and a proportion of non-enveloped viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, influenza and the Norovirus.

This has been confirmed by the independent Institute for Integrative Hygiene and Virology – InFluenc_H which relies on laboratory tests conducted by the University of Albstadt-Sigmaringen. The hygiene seal is exclusively granted to products whose high performance in protecting against viruses has been scientifically proven. This link provides further details on how testing was conducted (only in German).

Alongside the previous 'Certified hygiene' seal of approval awarded by the Rhine-Waal University based on a bacterial efficacy of 99.99%***, dryers now sport certification of their virucidal efficacy.
