New Miele flatwork ironers offer more: Flexibility on the smallest of footprints

Gütersloh/Hamburg, March 13, 2015 No. 025/2015

Ergonomic operation and top-class performance all included

Highest-level user convenience combined with a compact footprint is offered by three new flatwork ironers from Miele Professional. With roller lengths of between 100 cm and 166 cm, these machines represent the ideal match for small to medium-size laundries. All three models are height-adjustable and sport a large touch display for a simple and convenient user interface. The new controls make for even preciser temperature control and ensure considerably higher laundry throughput.

Thanks to their compact dimensions, the new Miele ironers fit the bill in virtually all cases. Their height is adjustable to suit the stature and personal preferences of staff. The leg levellers are height-adjustable within a range of six centimetres and another 10 cm can be added to the height of the machine using an additional plinth. This degree of flexibility is only available from Miele.

All models can be operated by a single person. The PM 1217 (166 cm roller length) also allows fast switch-over between return- and through-feed operation to afford great flexibility in everyday work and is a feature exclusive to Miele on ironers of this size. Applications for patents have been submitted.

All three ironers are very simple to operate thanks to their new touch display, allowing temperatures and ironing speeds to be regulated with precision. The combination of speed and temperature most frequently used can be saved under 'Favourites'. During breaks in work, the 'Pause' function maintains operational readiness by retracting the heater plate and stopping roller rotation. After a short while, the temperature is reduced slightly so as to conserve energy. If items of laundry need adjusting on the infeed table, the roller can be conveniently stopped using the FlexControl footswitch which can be positioned either in front of or below the ironer.

The new controls regulate and monitor temperature with incredible precision, ensuring the optimum distribution of heat. This not only improves laundry finish, it also ensures high laundry throughput which is considerably higher than on the previous generation of machines. The PM 1217 is even designed to process 60 kg of laundry per hour.

A radically new feature is the air-cushioned heater plate. Air suspension in the side pedestals guarantees extremely uniform contact pressure across the entire length of the roller. This both ensures high laundry throughput and an excellent finish. This technology - available only from Miele on this class of machines - was previously the preserve of larger commercial ironers.

Both performance and finish is to a large part attributable to the excellent heat distribution within the heater plate. A large percentage of heat input is needed at the entrance as this is where the bulk of moisture is evaporated. The special arrangement of heater elements is designed to do justice to this fact by focusing heat where it is needed most. The result is fast and effective ironing combined with low heat input.
