Steam sterilisers combining the latest technologies from Steelco and Miele

Riese Pio X/Gütersloh/Düsseldorf, November 13, 2017 No. 114/2017

Two innovation leaders join forces

Incorporating market leading technologies from Steelco and Miele, VS6 and VS12 sterilisers featuring automation and 4D sensor technology will be on display. These sterilisers feature short programme cycles and low utility consumption combined with the ultimate in safety. Miele products will continue to be available for production-related reasons in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Benelux countries through to the end of 2019.

Steelco’s successful VS range of sterilisers is to be further enhanced with the 4D sensor first presented by Miele at Medica 2016. The efficacy of sterilisation relies not only on the parameters of pressure, temperature and time but also on the presence of saturated steam. This fourth dimension of reprocessing is monitored during sterilisation by a new patented system mapping the quality of saturated steam in real time.

Derived from 40 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical sector, Steelco’s healthcare sterilisers include many high-quality components and features as standard, such as TriClamps, full 316-grade stainless steel piping and a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) option not often found on competitor units as standard.

To ensure uniform heat distribution, Steelco’s dimple-welded jacket ensures greater surface contact between the jacket and chamber compared to traditional rib designs that are more prone to cold spots within the chamber.

All Steelco’s sterilisers from 1 to 18 STU capacity are fitted with an efficient ECO system to reduce water consumption by 35% on average and extend the vacuum pump’s life expectancy by cooling steam and condensate prior to reaching the vacuum pump. Optionally a chiller can be connected to reduce overall water consumption by 90%.

An intuitive user interface enables the fast selection of different standard cycles and specialised optional validated cycles such as for dealing with prions, and sterilizing contact lenses or silicone implants. In service access mode, the status of individual components is displayed. Remote monitoring is also offered together with full integration into Steelco’s SteelcoData traceability system.

The possibility of automatic loading or unloading different capacity sterilisers will be shown at Medica using VS6 and VS12 sterilisers which can be supplied straight-in-line or with parallel loading / unloading using a rotating table. A further benefit for users is the possibility of not only performing automatic heating and leak tests prior to the start of a working day but for the shuttle to load the sterilisers and run Bowie Dick tests before staff arrive.
