and matching process chemicals

Economical: Miele Professional as full-line supplier

With System4Dent, Miele Professional is offering a complete system to ensure that work in dental surgeries is both economical and safe. Alongside sterilisation, automatic washing and disinfection plays a key role in the reprocessing of medical instruments and accessories. Miele offers three tried-and-tested thermal disinfectors from Miele, replete with matching baskets, inserts and special-purpose programmes for the thorough and material-compatible cleaning of internal and external instrument surfaces. Results are now set to be further optimised by the process chemicals formulated for the Miele system now available under the ProCare Dent label.

The ProCare Dent product range comprises powder and liquid detergents, neutralising agents and surfactants as well as reactivation salt. In combination with the thermal disinfectors and matching baskets, inserts and special programmes, both internal and external instrument surfaces are cleaned thoroughly without any risk of damage to materials.

Thermal disinfectors from Miele are available as 45 cm and 60 cm freestanding units which can also be used as undercounter models. On two levels, these machines offer ample space for up to 11 hand-pieces and contra-angles, thereby offering the largest capacity currently available on the market. To facilitate automatic cleaning and thermal disinfection, around 30 baskets with matching inserts are available alongside special programmes such as Miele's own VarioTD programme as the everyday cycle for routine infection control. Various water treatment systems guarantee the economic and gentle cleaning of instruments. The hygienic fresh water system which involves an intake of fresh water in each phase of the programme cycle ensures thorough instrument cleaning together with a third spray arm on the upper basket. Lumened instruments are cleaned using a direct injection system in which upper baskets dock onto the machine's hydraulic circuit.

Numerous baskets and inserts are available for a variety of applications: from a special insert for rotating instruments such as drills to adapters for transmission instruments. In short, Miele Professional brings together all the best-practice prerequisites for hygienic reprocessing and the best possible protection of heath care employees.

All thermal disinfectors from Miele are fully compliant with the European DIN EN ISO 15883 standard and the Medical Device Directive. Miele washerdisinfectors feature a programme in which thermal disinfection takes place in the first water intake cycle in compliance with legislation governing the containment of notifiable epidemics. In this programme, thermal disinfection takes place at temperatures between 90°C and 95°C before the first drainage cycle. This covers the A and B spectra, i.e. providing fungicidal and bactericidal action as well as virus deactivation, including HBV and HIV.

Germany's Robert Koch Institute has confirmed the efficacy of Miele's system also in respect to the standard VarioTD programmes which was developed by Miele for general infection control in its thermal disinfectors. In this process, which performs exceptionally well in removing blood residue, cleaning takes place in the initial stages of the programme at low temperatures. This prevents the denaturation of blood which would cause residue to bond with instrument surfaces. Thermal disinfection takes place at the end of the cycle at a temperature of 93°C held for 5 minutes.
