Drying laundry efficiently, economically and sustainable – with the latest Professional technology from Miele

Gütersloh/Hamburg, March 17, 2017 No. 018/2017

Tumble dryers with heat-pump and hot water heating

Dryers from Miele Professional now adopt new approaches to heating in a bid to reduce costs. Large mountains of laundry are ready to be returned to the cupboard or perfectly prepared for finishing on a flatwork ironer in next to no time – combined with low consumption and highest efficiency.

The first heat-pump dryer for clients with limited space and large volumes of laundry to process slashes energy costs by half and, thanks to a width of only 71 cm, fits through doors and into confined spaces with ease. The PT 8203 WP from the SlimLine series features a new heat-pump module which is fully housed inside the dryer. With a load capacity of up to 10 kg and a drum volume of 200 l, this model complements the existing range of Miele commercial heat-pump dryers now catering for loads of 6.5, 10 and 13 kg of laundry. The blue-fronted SlimLine dryer has an open plinth, making it easy to manoeuvre into place with a palletiser, and is therefore ideal for smaller laundries. The heat-pump module requires no wall gap at the rear: It is now conveniently located below the drum and can be withdrawn easily for servicing. And there's another important benefit: Thanks to its good sound insulation, it is extremely quiet in operation, producing emissions of no more than 63 dB(A).

Like all heat-pump dryers from Miele Professional, this model from the SlimLine range also features a closed-circuit air path. This dispenses with the need for vent ducting and thereby reduces installation costs to a minimum. Warm, moisture-laden air from the dryer is passed into the heat pump and cooled and dried through contact with a heat exchanger. The dry air is then reheated in a second heat exchanger, ready to pass through the laundry load once again. As the air is cooled and dehumidified, it releases energy which can then be used in re-heating the colder, dry air. In contrast to vented and condenser dryers, this technology recuperates a good deal of the energy, returning it to the drying process.

As alternative sources of heat such as solar-thermal energy, district heating or the use of unit-type co-generation plants gain traction on a worldwide scale, Miele Professional offers a range of specially designed dryers which drastically cut energy costs. Miele's H2O dryers can be heated by an economical, alternative central heating source. If the water used to cool a co-generation plant is used, dryer operation is virtually cost-free. These dryers are available in a variety of sizes with drum volumes ranging from 325 l to 800 l and load capacities between 10 and 32 kg.
