About Miele

Miele is held in high esteem as the world's leading manufacturer of premium appliances for cooking, laundry care and floorcare. Miele also make dishwashers, washing machines and tumble dryers for commercial use as well as appliances for the reprocessing of medical instruments and laboratory equipment ("Miele Professional"). With its own sales companies or importers Miele is represented in about 100 countries.

The company

Miele & Cie KG has been owned by the Miele (51 per cent) and the Zinkann (49 per cent) families since its foundation in 1899. The head office with central administration and parent plant is located in Gütersloh.

Miele & Cie. KG is jointly managed by five directors: Olaf Bartsch (Executive Director - Finances and Administration), Dr Stefan Breit (Executive Director - Technology), Dr Axel Kniehl (Executive Director - Marketing and Sales), as well as Dr Markus Miele and Dr Reinhard Zinkann (Executive Directors and Co-Proprietors). 


Worldwide Miele employs 20,098 people, of which 11,225 are in Germany. 

Business development

During the business year 2017/2018, which ended on 30 June 2018, the company achieved a sales volume of €4.1 billion. This corresponds to an increase of €167 million or 4.3 percent. In its home market of Germany, the company grew to €1.21 billion (plus 2.4 percent). 


For Miele sustainabilty is entrenched in the values and traditions of the company and is the absolute foundation for long-term corporate success. Miele is a member of the UN sustainability organisation Global Compact and signatory of the "Diversity Charter". Miele publishes a sustainability report every two years. 



Founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann as a centrifuge factory, Miele initially became a well positioned supplier for agriculture, with product divisions such as dairy equipment, washing machines, bicycles and even automobiles. Today, the company's focus is on the claim to global leadership in quality and technology for household and commercial appliances.
