Ample space for cleaning textiles even in confined spaces – with the new Little Giants from Miele

Gütersloh, March 18, 2019 No. 29/2019

  • Now with load capacities of 6 or 8 kg

  • Special-purpose programmes for mops, pads and cleaning cloths

Miele's Little Giants are the product of choice in businesses where large quantities of mops and cleaning cloths have to be cleaned on a daily basis. In April, compact washing machines and tumble dryers under the MopStar label sporting load capacities of 6 kg and 8 kg are due out. As previously, the new machines require only half a square metre of floor space but are able to take even more cleaning textiles.

Even at first glance, the high-quality stainless-steel fascia immediately betrays the fact that these are not domestic machines. The technology behind the scenes, above all, is designed to cope with significantly higher levels of strain and use, as is the case in contract cleaning businesses. On the washing machines, new special-purpose programmes are available alongside 15 standard programmes for mops, pads and cleaning cloths. These enable thermal and chemothermal disinfection followed by conditioning with liquid detergent and disinfectant. The desired residual moisture is adjustable. This leaves cleaning textiles immediately ready for re-use.

Greater user convenience and reduced time

The new, easy-to-use text display allows the fast and intuitive selection of up to 29 languages – even during a running programme. Workaday life is further simplified by short cycles and a door which is particularly easy to open, without having to press a separate button to release the door lock. Other practical features: A sensor-controlled level-fill indicator for detergent and the ease with which filters are cleaned.

The patented pre-spinning cycles which start with a spin have the effect of removing coarse soil and dirty water, allowing a greater volume of fresh water to enter the machine in the main wash. At the same time, this also discharges any detergent or tenside residue. This allows detergent to reach its full capacity. In the case of microfibre mops, additional water is introduced at the end of the main wash. This further improves rinse performance and, by lowering temperatures, prevents heavy mops becoming plastered to the walls of the drum at high spin speeds.

Upping the drum speed – but still running smooth

The subsequent drying process is curtailed by thoroughly dewatering textiles during the spin cycle – whilst at the same time ensuring smooth running despite increased spin speeds. This is all in combination with high-quality components such as special heater elements made from corrosion-proof material. These gather neither soil nor lint - in the interests of longevity.
