Efficiency meets aesthetics: New downdraft extractor hoods from Miele

Gütersloh/Berlin, July 1, 2025 No. 057/2025
  • Integrated ambient lighting for atmospheric accents

  • Model versions in 80- and 90-centimetre widths

Miele presents its new downdraft extractor hoods at the IFA kick-off in Berlin. These combine high-performance air purification, high-quality materials and smart technology with an innovative lighting concept that creates atmospheric accents in the kitchen. Its minimalist design blends elegantly into modern kitchen architecture – when not in use, the extractor fan disappears discreetly into the worktop.

A tap on the gentle recess in the black glass panel is all it takes for the deflector plate to move quietly into position behind the hob. The base cabinet conceals powerful yet energy-efficient ventilation technology for extracting cooking fumes and odours. The tried-and-tested Con@ctivity function provides additional convenience: The extractor hood and hob communicate with each other and automatically adjust the extraction power to suit the cooking activity. This allows you to relax and concentrate on cooking. In future, it will be possible to control the hood directly via a small control panel on the hob – without having to reach over hot pots.

One highlight is the integrated lighting concept: the colour temperature and intensity of the work lighting can be individually adjusted via the Miele app. Top-of-the-range models also feature a surrounding LED light strip that creates atmospheric accents – while cooking or independently in ambient mode. In this mode, an extension height of just 2 centimetres is sufficient. The light colour can also be flexibly selected via the app. The deflector plate is height-adjustable in three stages for effective extraction, pleasant lighting or an unobstructed view. The middle position strikes a balance between good air circulation and an unobstructed view – ideal when cooking with family or friends.

The new models can be used in both exhaust air and recirculation mode and, with widths of 80 and 90 centimetres, offer maximum flexibility in kitchen planning. The ten-layer stainless steel grease filters with a high-quality cover layer can be conveniently cleaned in the dishwasher. Two odour filters are available for recirculation mode: one made of pleated material and another that can be refreshed in the oven – clear signs of well-thought-out everyday practicality and durability.

“This downdraft hood is for more than just air purification,” says Uwe Brunkhorst, Senior Vice President Business Unit Cooking at Miele. “It combines innovative technology with atmospheric lighting and timeless design. The lighting concept is no mere add-on, but rather an expression of our commitment to combining functionality and aesthetics at the highest level.”

The new downdraft extractor hoods will go on sale in April 2026.
