• Consumption Dashboard in Miele App reveals true consumption and gives tips on economic use

Climate change, a dramatic increase in electricity costs, working from home – Improving energy efficiency and sustainability in the home is a more crucial than ever before. In this field, Miele is once again setting new standards with its dishwashers from the current G 7000 generation. Whether through an A rating for energy efficiency on almost all models, a particularly fast Eco programme, an optional hot water connection or the exclusive AutoDos dispensing system: A choice in favour of a dishwasher from Miele not only takes the strain off the environment and the climate but also goes easy on the wallet. Moreover, all Miele dishwashers are tested for 20 years of use. Now, the family-run company is presenting a new Consumption Dashboard as part of the Miele App which brings transparency to actual energy and water consumption and provides tips on how to economise.*

Miele has reduced energy consumption on its dishwashers by around 44% over the past 20 years – and still the company sees no reason to rest on its laurels. Almost all Miele dishwashers from the G 7000 model series, for example, meet the strict requirements for the new top A energy efficiency rating which was introduced in 2021. This is combined with a cycle time of less than 4 hours in the Eco programme. Together with the other sustainability, performance and convenience features which characterise the G 7000, this all makes for a highly attractive package. According to the most recent surveys by GfK in Europe**, Miele achieved a share of 73.7% by volume in the first half of 2022 in the market for dishwashers with an A rating for energy efficiency. 'This is a massive endorsement of the consistently sustainable direction of our G 7000 series', says Dr. Michael Junker, Senior Vice President Business Unit Dishwashing with the Miele Group. 'In order to provide our customers with even greater support in getting the best out of their appliances, we have now developed a new Consumption Dashboard'.

This new feature in the Miele App informs users of the actual amount of water and electricity consumed in a programme once completed. The Consumption Dashboard also shows how often a programme has been run each week, month or year. The deeper analysis of the data is simple and concise and compares for instance averages for all the programmes used and makes recommendations on the choice of cycles. These functions will be available in the app as early as Q4 of this year.

Save even more with hot water connection and solar-thermal heating

The low energy and water consumption on the G 7000 generation is largely attributable to their EcoPower technology with intelligent water intake, optimised spray arms and a new and highly efficient filtration system. As a result, water consumption in the Eco programme is reduced to 8.4 l. In the Automatic programme in which a sensor detects the degree of load soiling, it is even possible to get water use down to 6 l.

Many customers are unaware of the fact that all Miele dishwashers can be connected to a hot water supply with a maximum temperature of 60°C. This option is all the more interesting – and sustainable – when the hot water for the dishwasher is heated using renewable sources of energy, for example using a solar-thermal or PV rooftop array. In a mix of programmes, this can save on average up to 35% electricity compared with a model connected to a cold water supply. In the Eco programme, savings of up to 46% are even feasible – in this case, energy consumption is reduced to as little as 0.29 kWh. In addition to this, the cycle times on dishwashers, depending on the programme, can be shortened by up to 25 minutes.

Never too much, never too little: Perfect cleaning results thanks to AutoDos

Another benchmark for greater sustainability is provided by the AutoDos dispenser system with its integrated PowerDisk, the world's first automatic dispensing system for dishwashers. In this case, the powder granulate developed by Miele is dispensed individually for each programme cycle to provide precisely the amount of detergent to meet the needs of the selected programme or the degree of soiling in order to ensure sparkling results. Manual adjustment is also possible. This way, detergent is neither under- nor overdosed, an aspect which also protects the environment. A single PowerDisk is sufficient for 20 cycles in the 50°C Eco programme. The disk itself is made from 100% post-consumer recyclate, i.e. made from cleaned and reprocessed plastic waste. The detergent used in the PowerDisk All in 1 ECO is based on ingredients of vegetable origin, is free from microplastics, fragrances, preservatives and colouring, and dispenses entirely with benzotriazole, a substance used to protect silver.

Miele lands new double dishwasher win with Stiftung Warentest

These compelling environmental properties also contributed towards two Miele dishwashers from the G 7000 series sitting on the top step of the winner's rostrum in the most recent comparison conducted by the German consumer watchdog Stiftung Warentest (08/2022 issue of 'test' magazine): The G 7160 SCVi AutoDos excelled all along the line among fully integrated models (machines with top-edge controls). In the category of integrated models with a visible fascia panel, the otherwise technically identical model G 7110 SCi AutoDos was the sole winner.

The editors specifically heaped praise on the automatic programme, in particular for its electricity and water consumption paired with good cleaning performance. Positive mention was also made of the 'lowest running costs in the excellent Eco programme' on Miele models which at the time were B-rated for energy efficiency, a rating only Miele was able to offer.
