Miele further improves efficiency of vacuum cleaners / Attractive IFA campaign model / Scout RX1 robovac joined by red twin

Whether booster, optimised floorhead, brushes or seals: With a plethora of clever details, Miele is creating vacuum cleaners offering even greater suction power and user convenience – without any compromises when it comes to the energy label. The innovations presented at IFA include only canister vacuum cleaners with an A energy efficiency rating, including an attractively priced campaign model, as well as the Scout RX1 robovac.

At the touch of a button, added power can be called upon, for instance to cope with heavily soiled areas of carpets, thanks to the new Boost function from Miele. At the IFA trade show, Miele is set to present the Complete C3 Boost Parquet EcoLine campaign model at a special discount and with an additional floorhead for parquet flooring. With their regular 800 W EcoLine motor, the Boost models sport an A rating for energy efficiency on the label and also achieve top marks for dust pick-up on hard floors and for filtration ('dust emissions'). Dust pick-up on carpeting (without the booster) corresponds to a C rating. 'This, in particular, is where the booster comes into its own by increasing power output to 1200 W, without this having any negative effect on the energy efficiency class', explains Matthias Sander, responsible for floorcare products at Miele's Domestic Appliances International division.

The booster is activated by a quick tap on the Plus button. This allows 20 seconds of vacuuming at an increased power setting before regular operation is automatically resumed. It is possible to repeat this twice, giving a full minute of high-intensity cleaning (= 3 x 20 seconds). After a minute's break, the booster can once again be selected three times in succession. And, if only needed for less than 20 seconds, the booster can simply be deselected at any time by pressing the Minus button.

Improved dust pick-up thanks to new floorhead

New models from the Complete C3 Excellence range also excel in terms of their improved cleaning performance on carpets. This is achieved by an enhanced SBD 660-3 EcoTeQ Plus universal floorhead with an increased suction footprint, an improved seal and sharper suction aperture edges for improved dust pick-up. The latter penetrate deep into the pile of carpet, easing dirt out. In conjunction with the conical suction hose and the new EcoComfort handle, this model achieves a B rating for cleaning carpets. An A rating has been awarded for all the other three categories.

At IFA 2015, Miele will be presenting a further development in the form of the new Complete C3 Electro Plus EcoLine, due for introduction in January of next year. This model combines a highly efficient 800 W with an electrobrush which produces excellent cleaning results on carpets. What is new is the supply lead running down the interior of the suction tube, invisible from the outside. The electrobrush is conveniently operated via the electro-handle. New, too, is the SRD 21, an attachment for hard floors which is now 7 cm wider for faster cleaning.

Scout RX1 also with improved dust pick-up

Since is market launch in May 2014, the Scout RX1 robovac has successfully eked out a place for itself in the marketplace, with unit sales figures still above forecast throughout the world. In the run-up to the IFA 2015 show, Miele has made incremental improvements to several aspects of the mechanical system of the Scout, which is now also available in red (Scout RX1 Red). Picker pins now reliably guide dust under the unit and an improved beater bar ensures that coarser debris is collected in the dustbox. The latter, too, now has a much more effective lipped seal. 'Taken together, all these measures have significantly improved the Scout's dust pick-up once again', says floorcare manager Sander.

The familiar fortes of the Scout include its intelligent navigation based on a gyro sensor which measures rotation and changes in direction.

A digital camera integrated into the top cover scans the ceiling of the room several times a minute, ensuring that rooms are cleaned track by track with utmost precision. The four cleaning programmes 'Auto', 'Spot', 'Corner' and 'Turbo' offer solutions tailored to all needs. The powerful and durable rechargeable battery allows 120 minutes of cleaning, equating to up to 150 m² of flooring – before the Scout automatically returns to its recharging station to fill up for a fresh round of work.
