Extra-slim professional heat-pump dryer cuts energy costs by 50 percent

Gütersloh/Frankfurt, June 11, 2016 No. 067/2016

Model PT 8203 WP from 'SlimLine' range

Miele Professional now offers the first heat-pump dryers for clients with limited space and large volumes of laundry to process: The PT 8203 WP from the SlimLine series cuts energy costs by half and, thanks to a width of only 71 cm, fits through doors and into confined spaces with ease. This is facilitated by a new heat-pump module which is now fully integrated into the dryer itself.

With a load capacity of up to 10 kg and a drum volume of 200 l, the new model complements the range of heat-pump dryers from Miele Professional – and is an attractively priced addition to the existing range. This blue-fronted dryer has an open plinth, making it easy to manoeuvre into place with a palletiser, and is therefore ideal for smaller laundries. The heat-pump module requires no further space at the back: It is now located below the drum and can be withdrawn easily to the front for servicing. And there's another important benefit: Thanks to its good sound insulation, it is extremely quiet in operation, producing sound emissions of no more than 63 dB(A).

Like all heat-pump dryers from Miele Professional, this model from the SlimLine series operates on the principle of close-circuit air flow, dispensing entirely with the need for vent ducting and reducing installation effort to a minimum. Warm, moisture-laden air from the dryer is passed into the heat pump and cooled and dried through contact with a heat exchanger. The dry air is then reheated in a second heat exchanger, ready to pass through the laundry load once again. As the air is cooled and dehumidified, it releases energy which can be used in re-heating the colder, dry air.

In contrast to vented and condenser dryers, this technology recuperates a good deal of the energy, returning it to the drying process. Compared with a conventional vented dryer, the new SlimLine model achieves energy savings of 50%: As a result, only 2.3 kWh is required for a 9 kg load.

Laundry is dry after little more than an hour – down from an initial moisture content of 50%. Thorough dehumidification of the air allows the process air temperature to be kept very low. This is very much to the benefit of fabrics. And Miele's patented electronic residual moisture monitoring system PerfectDry reliably prevents overdrying.

With its Profitronic B Plus controls, twelve programmes for a variety of textiles and residual moisture settings, the new dryer is incredibly simple to operate. Fast loading and unloading is guaranteed by the ergonomic drum height and a door opening angle of 180°. For constant high heat-pump output, Miele has included a two-stage filtration system which can be cleaned by the user.

Heat-pump dryers also with load capacities of 6.5 to 13 kg

The new SlimLine dryer is the fourth heat-pump dryer from Miele Professional. Other models cater for load capacities of 6.5, 10 and 13 kg. As their rated loads are far lower than those of conventionally heated electric dryers, they are ideal for use on circuits with low fuse ratings or in combination with peak-load management systems.
