Individual sets of cooking products with integrated cooktop extractor

Gütersloh/Rödinghausen, September 18, 2015 No. 134/2015

Making two out of one: Miele combines familiar CombiSet modules with new cooktop extractor

Miele is bringing together hob units and extractors – with sets of products comprising professional-style CombiSet modules and a cooktop extractor.

The most prominent feature of a cooktop extractor is the fact that steam and cooking vapours are captured at the height at which they arise and not at a distance above pots and pans. The technical componentry on this type of product is concealed in the cabinet down below. This has a huge practical benefit: Cooktop extractors are suitable for installation in a run of kitchen furniture installed against a wall as well as in a cooking island. Aesthetically, this represents an interesting alternative to a conventional cooktop as these products blend in seamlessly with surrounding furniture and go discretely about their work.

Miele CombiSet modules take into account a wide variety of cooking preferences as this pick-n-mix approach allows the combination of, say, induction hobs with a griddle or even a wok to produce a product tailored to the needs of consumers. Miele offers no fewer than four preconfigured sets containing a cooktop extractor. In each case, the extractor is always located centrally, sandwiched between the cooking modules to ensure the unimpeded extraction of steam at source. In Set 1, two induction hob units each with two rings, of which one is a casserole zone, frames a cooktop extractor. Set 2 on the other hand comprises an induction hob on the one side and a TepanYaki stainless-steel contact grill on the other. A combination of induction hob, cooktop extractor and induction wok is also possible. Last but not least, Miele also offers a set with two hob units with conventional radiant heater elements.

The cooktop extractor features a powerful fan with an energy-efficient Eco motor offering three power settings and a booster stage. As is to be expected from Miele, a dishwasher-proof 10-ply metal grease filter comes pre-fitted. The area behind the filters, the so-called CleanCover, is easily accessible for cleaning purposes and even retains any moisture which finds its way into the unit. As the componentry is very compact, there still remains sufficient space in the base unit for drawers, although these may be somewhat shorter than usual. Furthermore, fan unit installation is flexible enough to allow vent ducting to lead off in the most suitable direction. In recirculation mode, filtered air re-enters the kitchen through a grille in the kitchen plinth. This grille can even be accommodated in a plinth with a height of only 10 cm.

These appliance sets not only meet professional standards in terms of technology, they also look and feel the part. The modules, for instance, are set in an all-round stainless-steel frame and the solid metal knobs are easy to handle and convey a sense of value.

These sets will be available from April 2016.
