For coffee connoisseurs: Black Edition N°1

Gütersloh/Rödinghausen, September 16, 2016 No. 109/2016

Miele presents its own blend of coffee / Greater convenience and promotional model from countertop CM6 range

Miele is set to launch its own first coffee blend: The Black Edition N°1 is organically grown, hand-picked and fair-traded. To mark the occasion, the company will also unveil a new version of the CM6 countertop coffee machine with an extended range of features – and a Black Edition promotional model with attractive added extras.

Black Edition N°1 is a well-balanced blend of four beans from the high-quality Arabica shrub which is harvested in the highlands of south America by hand. The beans are sourced from a fair-trade coffee cooperative, and then roasted and blended exclusively for Miele by a private German roastery. The full aroma of the Black Edition N°1 unfolds when it is used to prepare espresso and coffee as well as in specialities using milk.

Bio certification spans the entire production chain and even includes Miele as a stockist and trader in biological coffee. The Black Edition N°1 is marketed exclusively by Miele, from company showrooms or online via www.miele-shop.de. 'With our own Miele coffee, we are once again offering our customers that something extra which you will only find at Miele', says Gernot Trettenbrein, Director of Miele's Domestic Appliances International business unit.

The interplay of Miele coffee and a fully automatic coffee machine from the same Gütersloh-based premium brand promises additional convenience and pleasure: In the past, connoisseurs of fine coffee had to experiment at length in order to work out the ideal machine settings for their preferred type of coffee. Now, Miele has taken this work off customers' hands: A team of experts bringing together coffee roasters and Miele technicians has issued recommendations for Black Edition N°1 with respect to coffee and water volumes, temperature, pre-brewing and the fineness of the grind. This fine tuning will come in future with every coffee machine the company sells.

Parallel to the market launch of Miele coffee, the tried-and-tested countertop units from the CM6 series will experience an upgrade. All machines, for instance, will feature the coffee pot function, allowing 3 to 8 cups to be prepared one after the other at the touch of a button. Design-wise, the new CM6 models will look a touch more harmonious than their predecessors as the recess behind the spout unit is now better colour-coordinated to match the colour of the casing. Furthermore, Miele has extended its range with the addition of the CM 6350 Black Edition promotional model in a matt jet black and including a voucher for 2 kg of Miele coffee and a Miele thermos flask made from polished stainless steel for use with the coffee machine.

For the director of the Gütersloh family company's home appliances division Gernot Trettenbrein, the CM6 series in a fresh guise and the launch of the Black Edition N°1 is an 'almost perfect' combination. Trettenbrein: 'The new Miele coffee will add new impetus to our coffee machines – and vice versa'.
