Miele’s PG 8527 large cabinet lab washer with patented systems

Miele's PG 8527 large cabinet lab washer makes reprocessing of laboratory glassware more convenient and safer. Various innovative features offer customers top reprocessing quality and safety.

This lab washer features freely programmable Profitronic+ controls and a simple and convenient PerfectTouch display. The display and the controls are set in a perfectly flush glass screen, allowing simple and effective surface disinfection. All sensor-touch controls are behind glass, with only slight pressure on the surface needed to select the required functions. Programmes can be launched at the touch of a single control. Programming is intuitive using individual buttons to access the lines in the display and does not require much explanation.

A standard feature is the PerfectSpeed Sensor spray arm control unit which monitors and documents the precise rotational speed of spray arms in both the cabinet and on board mobile units and baskets. Loading mistakes resulting in an obstruction of the spray arm are detected at the start of the programme. Checks are also made to ensure that rotational speeds are within defined ranges in order to obtain best cleaning results. Out-of-range speeds can, for instance, be taken as an indication of excessive foaming. This would impede rotation and impair cleaning results.

A new dispensing volume control system under the name of PerfectFlow offers much greater safety than previous systems. This system is in a position to dispense detergents and process chemicals with great precision, irrespective of the viscosity of the fluid and ambient temperatures which may influence fluid flow properties. This new technology is far superior to other measuring systems such as simple flowmeters as these are subject to ambient conditions.
Even the slightest traces of residue in rinse water can seriously impair reprocessing results. The controls on this new line of machines can be programmed to warn operatives in the event that the conductivity in the last rinse cycle is out of range with respect to user-defined values. If this is the case, further rinse cycles can be added automatically. With this new generation of machines, Miele is offering a new and absolutely maintenance-free conductivity metering system, incurring no further costs for maintenance and calibration. This system is integrated into the water circuit but is contact-free, i.e. it does not come into direct contact with water in circulation. This patented system measures conductivity within narrow tolerance ranges.

Hygiene and convenience benefits

Further innovations ensure enhanced hygiene and improved user convenience. These include the new cove-cornered cabinet made from high-grade stainless steel with sloping horizontal surfaces designed to induce self-draining and improve hygiene. An optional all-glass PerfectVision door in combination with special in-cabinet lighting ensures an excellent view into the cabinet.

Optimum hygiene is also guaranteed during the drying phase. A high-temperature HEPA filter at the entrance to the cabinet prevents for example the introduction of particulate contamination into the cabinet. PerfectHEPA Drying also optimises airflow and reduces maintenance levels.
The safe reprocessing of laboratory glassware such as pipettes, beakers, Erlenmeyer flasks is guaranteed using the tried-and-tested modular system consisting of mobile injector units, baskets and inserts. Items such as wide-necked bottles and petri dishes are held secure during reprocessing in specially designed inserts.

In addition to the tried-and-tested 'Standard', 'Universal' and 'Intensive' programmes, the machine is also equipped with the new 'Anorganica' and 'Organica' special programmes. Furthermore, the machine also features thermal disinfection programmes, permitting laboratory glassware from microbiological or clinical laboratories contaminated with microorganisms to be disinfected with an adequate margin of safety.
Miele's new lab washer sports a network interface for process documentation as a regular feature and can be linked to process documentation software. Numerous programme parameters are recorded, including temperatures, spray arm speeds, dispensing volumes and conductivity. An interface also allows interaction with Miele Remote Service.

The specific design of the maintenance-free conductivity module ensures the precise monitoring of the conductivity, and hence purity, of the wash liquor. This provides a reliable indication as to the presence of undesirable substances, for example residual alkalinity.
