For the big occasions: Combination steam ovens in XXL format

Gütersloh/Rödinghausen, September 12, 2014 No. 143/2014

New model with broad range of uses

Bigger and even more versatile – these are the attributes of the new combination steam oven from Miele which is on sale from September 2014 onwards.

Combination steam ovens quite rightly have a reputation of being the most versatile of all-rounders among cooking appliances as they combine a fully fledged oven and a steam oven in one single unit, bringing together the best of both worlds, in particular in combination mode. Whereas, in the past, Miele had 3 different basic models in the range which were all designed for a cabinetry niche with a height of 45 cm, the DGC 6660 XXL now represents an entirely new unit to cater for the standard 60 cm recess traditionally occupied by a wall oven. The XXL in the model designation should be taken at face value as it offers an interior with a huge capacity of 68 l. This allows the use of up to 4 rack levels, considerably extending the range of applications compared with other models on the market.

Miele combination steam ovens are prized by professional chefs and acclaimed on cooking forums for the broad range of cooking options they offer. All operating modes are available: Steam cooking, combi cooking, Fan Plus, top and bottom heat, top heat, bottom heat, grill, economy grill, fan grilling, Intensive Bake, defrosting, reheating, bottling and blanching. Alongside manual food preparation options which allow humidity levels to be defined precisely by the user, this machine also offers more than 200 automatic programmes, including low-temperature, or slow, cooking cycles. It is even possible to save favourite programmes. A food probe is a standard feature, allowing meat to be cooked to a T by monitoring its core temperature.

Only short heat-up times are sufficient to achieve excellent results in 'steam only' mode. This embraces the principle of displacing oxygen in the cabinet with steam as fast as possible for gentle, wholesome cooking. The DGC XXL excels, too, in this discipline and manages to heat up to 100°C in a similar time to that on Miele's own compact models.

The secret to this achievement is the high-performance MultiSteam generator used by Miele: The user fills the tank concealed behind the motorised fascia panel. Water for cooking is drawn from the tank into the MultiSteam generator located at the rear of the appliance where it is converted to steam and piped into the oven interior via 8 inlet ports. The method of generating steam outside the inner cabinet offers the benefit of eliminating visible scaling. MultiSteam is an exclusive feature of steam ovens and combination steam ovens from Miele.

With SensorTronic Touch controls, also available on many other built-in appliances from Miele's Generation 6000, use of the DGC XXL is highly intuitive. The most striking feature of SensorTronic controls is the high-resolution TFT display which presents all settings in a 5-line display using white characters on a black background.

Miele has given the stainless-steel interior of the DGC XXL a linen-weave finish. This stainless-steel surface is also finished in PerfectClean. PerfectClean is a patented surface finish for ovens which boasts truly exceptional non-stick properties and is simple to clean. Particularly stubborn soiling can be removed using one of a variety of care programmes, such as the 'Soak' cycle which uses steam to soften residues.

The large combination steam oven comes replete with a multi-purpose tray, a combi rack, perforated containers for steam cooking as well as a recipe book. The DGC XXL is available in the PureLine design range in Stainless Steel CleanSteel, Brilliant White, Obsidian Black and Havana Brown.
