Gleam and sparkle: New DiamondFinish for full-surface induction hobs from Miele

Gütersloh/Berlin, August 31, 2022 No. 075/2022
  • Extremely hard ceramic glass helps reduce scratching
  • Particularly gentle and silent movement of pots and pans

With a full-surface induction hob, freedom during cooking is boundless: Up to six pots, pans or casserole dishes can be positioned anywhere on the Miele hob and moved around at will. To avoid scratches during cooking and when sliding items around, the Gütersloh-based family-owned Miele company is now adding a special coating to the ceramic glass screen on its top models: DiamondFinish is one of the most resilient surface finishes on the market and hence particularly scratch-resistant.

Small mishaps in the kitchen often result in unsightly scratches: Salt or grit from vegetables land on the ceramic glass. Next, when a pan is moved, scratches which are extremely difficult to remove are likely. With the new DiamondFinish, this will be far more seldom the case in future. This special coating results in the ceramic glass being among the most resilient on the market and twice as hard as conventional ceramic glass. With a reading of 9.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, this product comes very close to the highest value of 10, the abrasive hardness of a diamond.

As a result, the type of surface damage which occurs, for instance through cleaning with abrasive sponges, is reduced by 70%. Scratches caused by grit and sand are even reduced by 95%. Consequently, full-surface induction hobs with DiamondFinish retain their pristine high-end looks for a long time. A further benefit is the discreet gloss which gives the hobs added elegance. Thanks to special graphics, pots and pans can also be moved around particularly silently and smoothly on the ceramic surface (SilentMove).

Patented controls and smart functions

The patented combination of convenient controls and intelligent pan sensing makes for an intuitive cooking experience. A run of numbers appears for each item of cookware placed on the unit. These indicators both show power settings and move as pots and pans are relocated on the screen. The models also feature Miele's proven Con@ctivity* function with which the cooker hood above can be controlled by the hob unit. They can be connected via WiFi and integrated into the Miele App*.

All models are frameless and therefore ideal for flush installation. Products are available in widths of 60, 80 and 90 cm. The market launch is scheduled to start in December 2022.

*The applications for domestic appliances mentioned in the text are additional digital services from Miele & Cie. KG. All smart applications are enabled by the Miele@home system. The range of functions may vary depending on the model and the country.
