High performance and full flexibility: ExpertLine PLW 8636 laboratory washer from Miele Professional

Gütersloh/Munich, 24 March 2026 No. 025/2026
  • Variable-speed pump automatically adapts to the process

  • Intensive cleaning and hygienic results even at short running times

In laboratories, the reprocessing of laboratory glassware is one of the key processes. With the new ExpertLine PLW 8636, Miele Professional introduces a laboratory glassware washer that delivers full flexibility and high performance for the requirements of analytical applications. The EcoVadis Gold Medal 2026 underscores this commitment and ranks Miele among the top two percent of all assessed businesses – particularly in the environment category.

The 90-cm-wide devices have been proving their worth in chemical and biological laboratories for more than ten years. At the analytica 2026 trade fair, Miele Professional is presenting a new generation: network-enabled, with automatic drying and equipped for particularly demanding applications, such as in research facilities, laboratories or industrial settings. The top-of-the-range PLW 8636 model from the ExpertLine series offers technical functions that were previously reserved for larger laboratory washers.

Pump automatically adapts to the process

At the heart of the appliance is a particularly powerful variable-speed pump that automatically adapts its output to the respective process step. During cleaning phases, a higher speed ensures strong water pressure and intensive cleaning – even with short running times and stubborn soiling. During rinsing cycles, a lower speed is sufficient to completely wet the load items. For the first time, the process water is heated by a separate instantaneous water heater, which is located outside the wash cabinet and not integrated into the pump. This keeps the wash cabinet hygienic even with a heavily soiled load.

Precise dosing for reproducible results

Up to four dosing pumps can be set precisely for different applications. In addition, up to four calibratable flow meters ensure that cleaning and process media are dosed exactly. Newly designed spray arms with nozzles on the top and bottom, combined with the powerful pump, produce a remarkably even spray pattern.

High-performance drying unit

The new drying unit operates with 10 per cent more air output than the previous model. This means that even narrow-lumen laboratory glassware, small volumetric flasks and thin pipettes can be dried reliably on the inside. An upstream HEPA filter H14 removes particles from the drying air and ensures clean air during the drying process.

Intuitive operation and flexible programmes

The laboratory washer is operated via a 7-inch colour display. The angled surface is easy to read and programmes can be selected quickly. The industry-proven control system offers space for 24 pre-installed programmes, including for pipettes and for pasteurisation. Many programmes are available at two performance levels. If, for example, larger quantities of laboratory glassware need to be cleaned, the Plus mode boosts the cleaning performance. In addition, 50 freely programmable memory spaces are available. Authorised laboratory staff can save their own programmes here and adapt them to individual requirements.

Networking and process documentation

The laboratory washer can be integrated directly into a local network via an ethernet connection. This also enables process documentation, such as with the SegoSoft Miele Edition. Alternatively, third-party documentation systems can be connected via the IP profile. This means that customers can continue to use their existing IT infrastructure, keeping additional outlay to a minimum.

Ergonomic loading for everyday laboratory work

With a loading height of 80 cm, the laboratory washer is easy to load and unload. The EasyLoad accessories system ensures that laboratory glassware is automatically positioned correctly. This makes loading easier and prevents errors. A separate drawer provides space for detergent – for example from the ProCare Lab series, which was specially developed for use in Miele laboratory washers.
