100 years of floorcare: Miele celebrates anniversary with Heritage Edition
First vacuum, then mop, followed by cleaning the brushes and emptying the dust container – floor care often involves far more steps than you might think. At the same time, customers are looking for solutions that adapt flexibly to everyday life and save time. With the Duoflex HX2, Miele is introducing the second generation of the Duoflex range, setting new standards on the market. The appliance vacuums, mops and cleans itself – turning three cleaning steps into one.
With its new appliances, Miele is strengthening its position in the growing market for cordless stick vacuums with wet cleaning solutions. In Western Europe alone, sales in this category have grown by more than 20 percent*1 per year on average over the past four years. Miele entered this market in March 2026 with the Triflex HX3 Aqua. The Duoflex HX2 now follows as the next solution for this growing segment. The goal: to combine powerful wet-and-dry performance with particularly easy maintenance. “Our new generation is an important step in further expanding our expertise in cordless stick vacuum cleaners. With innovative technologies, an attractive price point and a clear focus on convenience and hygiene, we are appealing to new target groups. At the same time, we are making features that were previously found mainly in Miele’s upper market segment accessible to significantly more customers,” says Mark Siva, Senior Vice President Small Domestic Appliances at Miele.
Wet and dry cleaning in one pass
Whether breakfast crumbs and spilled drinks in the kitchen or pet hair on the sofa: everyday life involves a wide range of cleaning tasks. Instead of reaching for the vacuum cleaner first and then the mop, the Duoflex HX2 with the AquaTurbo wet cleaning tool handles both tasks in a single pass. The counter-rotating rollers create a floating effect that allows the attachment to glide effortlessly across the floor and significantly reduces the effort required for wet cleaning. At the same time, it picks up dry dirt and wet spills in a single pass, quickly leaving floors clean.
A comparison with the competition also demonstrates the solution’s performance: In standardized laboratory tests, the Duoflex HX2 removed coffee stains three times faster*2 than selected cordless vacuum cleaners with wet and dry cleaning functions.
From mopping the hallway to quickly cleaning upholstered furniture in handheld mode: thanks to the SpeedLock system, the Duoflex HX2 can be converted from a wet cleaner into a handheld appliance in just a few seconds.
More hygiene – even after cleaning
It is not only the floor that gets cleaner. Looking after the appliance itself is also significantly easier. With Miele’s first self-cleaning station (AutoCareBase)*3 for cordless stick vacuum cleaners, hairs are automatically removed from the brush (AutoCut) and the dust container is emptied automatically. The dust is collected in a dustbag, eliminating the need for manual emptying for up to 90 days*4.
Anyone who has ever cleaned dirty wet rollers knows how much effort is involved in maintaining wet cleaning appliances. The Duoflex HX2 Aqua takes care of this task: it automatically cleans the wet rollers (AutoClean) in the dedicated cleaning station (AquaBase).
Together, the two self-cleaning stations, AutoCareBase and AquaBase, minimize contact with dust, hair and dirt, ensuring a consistently hygienic cleaning experience.
More convenience for everyday life
The new generation of the Duoflex offers up to 50 percent*5 longer runtime and therefore makes it possible to clean larger areas with fewer charging interruptions. In handheld mode, the cordless stick vacuum runs for up to 70 minutes. The display makes it easy to select the different power levels, while the remaining runtime is always visible. In addition, automatic floor-type detection adjusts the cleaning performance to different floor coverings.
With its new colour concept, the new Duoflex HX2 blends harmoniously into modern living spaces. Colour variants such as Sand Beige, Fjord Blue and Lemon Yellow are inspired by interior trends and emphasize the appliance’s homely character. High-quality materials, metal accents and the interplay of matt and glossy surfaces create a premium look. The continuous BrilliantLight LED light strip also defines the appliance’s distinctive design language while making dust and dirt visible even in darker areas.
“With the Duoflex HX2, we are showing what modern floorcare can look like today. Features such as the AquaTurbo wet cleaning tool for particularly effortless wet cleaning, automatic emptying and the self-cleaning system combine convenience, hygiene and performance on a new level. The result: less effort, less contact with dirt and more time for the things that matter in everyday life,” says Siva.
The market launch in Europe is scheduled for spring 2027.
100 years of Miele floorcare: from the ‘Model K’ to the Duoflex HX2
In 1927, Miele launched its first vacuum cleaner, the Model K. In 2027, the company will celebrate 100 years of floorcare – looking back on a century in which cleaning has fundamentally changed. To mark the anniversary, a Heritage Edition combines this history with the present day: selected models feature the colours Classic Red and Ice Green as well as the historic Miele logo, drawing on elements from the brand’s history. With appliances from all three categories – bagged and bagless canister vacuum cleaners as well as cordless vacuum cleaners – Miele showcases the full breadth of its portfolio and demonstrates that the bridge from its first vacuum cleaner to cutting-edge technology in a retro look can be achieved across the entire range.
