Miele Generation 6000 appliance design and functionality caters for the most discerning

What sort of kitchen person am I? What demands do I place on machine design and features? Answers to these questions are provided by the new Generation 6000 built-in appliances from Miele: With the PureLine and ContourLine ranges, four colour worlds and a wide variety of user interfaces, these new built-in appliances cater for the whole gamut of living styles and customer needs.

PureLine is low-key and minimalistic and perfectly lends itself to inclusion in contemporary to modern kitchen styles on account of its smooth colours and its spacious appeal. PureLine is the range of choice when it is a matter of integrating appliances into the cabinetry of open-plan kitchens. Alongside the stainless-steel version, the range also offers models in Brilliant White, Havana Brown and Obsidian Black. Decor sets of machine handles are a completely new concept, allowing each customer to add their own personal touch to their built-in appliances. Options range from gold-plated handles through to handles with genuine timber inserts – customising à la Miele.

ContourLine creates a more technical appeal through greater detail and therefore blends in better with traditional to contemporary kitchen styles. With their extensive use of stainless steel, ContourLine models stand out from kitchen cabinetry.
Machine specifications ideally reflect the individual preferences of consumers. Innovative and versatile combination units such as combination steam ovens or microwave combination ovens are a huge asset in any kitchen. Other important issues relate to controls: Classic rotary selector or modern touch interface? How important are automatic programmes? And, although not immediately apparent, there is a link between these questions.

Models with rotary knob controls already feature a broad range of automatic programmes. On top-of-the-line models with Miele's M Touch display with their 200 automatic programmes, the selection is far greater, even including a unique search function. Miele customers can select from up to 6 different user interfaces, with all the functionality they offer. And - most importantly - all appliances offer exemplary user interaction. But whatever the set of controls, the underlying logics on an entry-line model with a rotary selector is essentially transferrable to a flagship model with touch controls because key controls are located in the same position on the fascia panel on all products throughout the range. This makes acclimatising to a new set of controls fast and has the highly beneficial effect of making machines look as if they have come out of the same mould.

What is referred to as the CubiQ arrangement of PureLine appliances in stainless steel: Coffee machines, microwave ovens, combination steam ovens for a 45 cm recess are complemented by two Gourmet food warmers. The coffee machine with touch controls blends in perfectly with other machines with rotary selectors because all the other controls on the fascia are identical across the entire range of appliances. CubiQ arrangement of PureLine appliances in Obsidian Black: Merged into a solid block, appliances do not give the impression of being individual units. Two ovens, a steam oven and a coffee machine leave nothing to be desired. In such an array, the coffee machine is best located top left. High Resolution TIFF

PureLine models in stainless steel offer that 'je ne sais quoi': For many, Miele's M Touch models are the icing on the Generation 6000 cake: It is difficult to imagine a machine front with greater aesthetic appeal. Here the three 45 cm models are joined by a large wall oven with Gourmet food warmer. Experts refer to this arrangement as a tower. High Resolution TIFF

This PureLine appliance combination represents a centre of culinary pleasure par excellence, shown here in Brilliant White. A combination steam oven, a coffee machine, a combination microwave oven (top row from left to right), a wall oven (for a 60 cm recess) and a large Gourmet food warmer leave nothing to be desired.  High Resolution TIFF

In the ContourLine range, the products are the heroes and appear to rise above the cabinet fronts. In this panoramic array, Miele combines three 45 cm units with a Gourmet food warmer. Touch controls and conventional knobs appear to come from the same mould thanks to the use of identical cross-product controls. High Resolution TIFF

Settings on the M Touch display are changed like on a smartphone by flicking and tapping on a high-resolution TFT colour display. M Touch units offer up to 200 automatic programmes which can be easily located using Miele's unique search function.

SensorTronic presents the contents of all menus in a 5-line TFT display in a concise and appealing way. The underlying principle of SensorTronic controls is familiar from the flagship models of the 5000 series of built-in appliances. However the new TFT displays are considerably brighter and crystal clear.

DirectSensor is characterised by touch controls on a glass screen, allowing operating modes indicated by symbols on the fascia panel to be selected direct. Important: In many cases, models with DirectSensor controls are often replicated in the range as DirectControl models with conventional knobs.

DirectControl represents a set of controls with high-quality metal rotary selectors. DirectControl offers budding chefs who like to rely on their own cooking skills an intuitive user interface and an easily legible 4-line TFT display.

EasyControl stands for a value-for-money entry-line range within the new Generation 6000. The operating controls are in a similar arrangement to DirectControl; the representation of time and temperature is via a liquid-crystal display.

EasySensor is deployed on Miele appliances with a reduced set of functionalities. Examples of this are steam ovens without automatic programmes. The time and temperature are presented in a 7-segment display.
