Laboratory glassware reprocessing on three levels: Large-chamber glasswashers from Miele now with increased capacity

With large-chamber laboratory glasswashers from the PLW 86 series, Miele has been offering a high-performance series since 2019 which, thanks to the EasyLoad accessory system, is fast and simple to load. Even greater chamber capacity and additional loading flexibility will soon be offered by a new load carrier, available from July 2021 onwards: For the first time, this unit allows up to 9 modules to be accommodated on up to three levels – for the reliable cleaning of a variety of laboratory glassware items both inside and out.

Internal cleaning is of particular importance on narrow-necked laboratory glassware such as Erlenmeyer flasks. This is achieved using injector nozzles integrated into the modules. These, in turn, fit into the new APLW 511 load carrier and connect to the water circuit in up to 9 different positions. This makes Miele's tried-and-tested EasyLoad system even more versatile whilst at the same time offering greater capacity than ever before. Even a combination of tall laboratory glassware such as pipettes and smaller items such as phials is possible – making full use of space in the chamber.

This way, 324 bottles with a volume of 100 ml can be washed and dried in a single load – or, alternatively, 216 of the same bottles plus 294 phials. The bottom line is an increase in load capacity of more than 50%, above all when reprocessing small and medium-size items of laboratory glassware.

New programme versions for load carriers and higher pump speeds ensure reliability in reprocessing. Consequently, glasswashers adapt flexibly to the needs of large laboratories and result in highly efficient operation. This is achieved in particular through the use of a variable-speed circulation pump able to adjust speeds to the needs of programme cycles. During the main wash, full power is operative, whereas speed is reduced in the rinse cycle that follows. The controls, too, adapt to changing load situations, reducing not only water consumption but also electricity and detergent use.
