Miele adds momentum to full integration of kitchen appliances with new downdraught model

Miele is promoting the concept of full integration of kitchen appliances with its new 'Levantar' extractor (DA 6890). This is a so-called downdraught model and is a viable alternative for use in island installations if there are objections to or more pragmatic reasons for not installing a ceiling canopy.

When switched off, the Levantar is almost fully concealed in its base unit. All that remains is a narrow piece of glass trim to hint at the high tech behind the scenes. This glass trim contains a set of controls which are a perfect match in terms of both design and functionality for the other built-in units from the Miele's Generation 6000 range. When the 90 cm wide unit is switched on, a motor-driven canopy rises from the surface of the worktop.

The ideal partner for the Levantar downdraught extractor is Miele's KM 6379 panoramic induction hob. The four rings on this model almost form a straight line, allowing rising steam and vapours to be captured by the edge-extraction panel of the extractor to the rear. Visually, too, the two 90 cm wide built-in units fuse into a single elegant-looking unit.

The Levantar is fitted with dimmable LEDs to illuminate the cooking area. A further practical detail is not obvious to the observer but is nevertheless relevant to base unit installation: The motor casing can be connected in various positions to the canopy, giving a wide range of installation options.
The Levantar can be operated alternatively in recirculation or vented mode.
