New app offers remote control and extends range of appliance functions

That last meeting went extremely well and work ended earlier than expected. Good reason therefore to get the washing machine running on your way home from work using your smartphone. A brief glance also reveals that the dishwasher is almost finished. That leaves a little more time before the guests arrive and gives a sense of security – the peace of mind of having everything under control. All this is made possible through the new Miele@mobile app, an attractive proposition for all customers wishing to access their appliances at all times and on the go using Miele@home technology.

Miele@mobile is the logical development of the InfoControl Plus application which has been available for more than 3 years and is already installed on thousands of mobile devices. With the new app, users can call up machine status information and, depending on the model, can even operate their machines remotely. This is already reality on numerous appliances on the market. By contrast, the previous InfoControl Plus only allowed machines to be operated within the range of a home's wifi network.

The app for washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers, due to hit the market in early 2015, offers a broader range of functionalities. Alongside programme start and status queries, these models offer additional options. In the case of the washing machine, for instance, programme selection, delay start, spin speed, temperature and detergent dispensing is all possible from the convenience of a smartphone. Meaningful applications for dishwashers, in particular fully integrated models, are programme selection, the choice of options and checking up on the remaining cycle time. For those interested, the operation of domestic appliances can be almost entirely transferred to a smartphone. Miele calls this new function MobileControl.

The push notification feature is highly practical for users as it doesn't even require the app to be launched for information to be sent to the user. Classical 

examples: The app issues a reminder when the door filter on the tumble dryer needs cleaning or rinse aid needs topping up on the dishwasher. The Miele@mobile app, free-of-charge at the time of going to market, will be available in early 2015 for Android (Version 4.1 upwards) and iOS 7 operating systems from the App Store and from Google.
