Miele dishwashers once again sole winner with Stiftung Warentest

Gütersloh, May 31, 2016 No. 071/2016

Top marks in all cleaning programmes and for handling

Among 60 cm wide dishwashers with an A+++ for energy efficiency, Miele remains the benchmark. This was the conclusion reached by Stiftung Warentest in its most recent dishwasher test, published in their 'test' magazine (Edition 6/2016). Among the semi-integrated units, the winner was Miele's G 6200 SCi; the fully integrated but otherwise identical G 6260 SCVi came out top among fully integrated dishwashers. In both cases, only Miele achieved the top overall mark awarded in the test of 1.9.

Testers almost swooned when they inspected the interior of Miele's G 6200 SCi: 'Plates stand in three rows in the lower basket. Wine glasses hang from height-adjustable holders', StiWa says in its editorial section, and continues: 'At the end of a cycle, the test winner automatically opens the door to allow fresh air in to dry crockery. And, what's more, Miele has the best A+++ efficiency label'.

The model tested from the Bielefeld production plant, which incidentally is celebrating its centenary in July, is not only convenient and efficient - it is also incredibly thorough. This is borne out by the three top marks for cleaning performance in the Eco programme (2.0), the 'Automatic' programme (1.7) and the 'Short' programme (2.4). With a 1.8 for handling, the Miele candidate also achieved the best mark awarded. A 'Very good' (0.9) was also awarded in the 'Sound emissions' category. Both test winners - the semi-integrated and the integrated model - use fresh water throughout and are very sparing in their use of water (from 6.5 l in the 'Automatic' programme). Both are fitted with the patented 3D cutlery drawer and feature both delay start and a countdown indicator.

'This repeat test win shows once again that dishwashers from Miele are the benchmark in the marketplace thanks to their combination of cleaning performance, ease of loading and energy efficiency', says Product Manager Tobias Landwehr from Miele Germany. Two key aspects were not even included in Stiftung Warentest's evaluation: the proverbial reliability and durability of Miele appliances. Explanatory notes state that life expectancy was not tested in the absence of a suitable accelerated laboratory testing method. Customers simply have to live with this uncertainty, editors explain – not without at the same time reminding readers that Miele claims to build its dishwashers to last 20 years.

Powerful, convenient, economical and elegant: The G 6200 SCi came out tops in four of six categories, including the entire section on cleaning. In the fully integrated category, the technically identical G 6260 SCVi model was the winner. Both units have the best A+++ energy-efficiency rating and use as little as 6.5 l of water in the 'Automatic' programme.
