Gentle steam cooking and fast heating in one and the same unit

Miele is set to extend its range of steam ovens with microwave by introducing models at highly attractive price points as well as a plumbed-in unit.

Steam oven or microwave? – In the past, consumers had to opt for one of the two cooking methods as many kitchens only offer enough space for one additional built-in appliance alongside a conventional oven in the kitchen. This all changed a year ago with the launch of Miele's top model (DGM 6800) as this appliance combines a fully fledged steam oven and a microwave oven in one. Healthy cooking in steam which protects vitamins, nutrients and minerals is now just as easily possible as is harnessing the speed of a microwave oven. Now Miele is rounding off its range with models at popular price points. These offer a similar range of options as the flagship model but come with fewer automatic programmes and feature other displays.

All steam ovens with microwave feature the letters DGM in their designation and offer a wealth of joint features: A 40 l cabinet, MultiSteam technology with a powerful 3.3 kW steam generator for short heat-up times and the uniform distribution of steam inside the cabinet, and 7 microwave power settings (max. 1000 W). All models include the 'sous vide' cooking setting. This method of food preparation cooks food sealed in plastic bags at relatively low temperatures over an extended period of time. An ideal complementary product to go with a steam oven with microwave is therefore obviously Miele's vacuum-sealing drawer. A 45 cm DGM together above a vacuum-sealing drawer fills a classic 60 cm oven recess.

The DGM range comprises models with DirectSensor (entry-line unit), SensorTronic and M Touch (flagship model) controls. The M Touch unit is also available as a plumbed-in appliance. All steam ovens with microwave in the PureLine designer series are available in stainless steel, brilliant white, obsidian black and Havana brown. Customers preferring the ContourLine design can select between two models in stainless steel. Various cooking containers (stainless steel), a wire rack and a glass tray come as standard on all units. A cookery book with steam cooking recipes and a recipe booklet with a focus on microwave applications are provided with the machines. In Germany and a series of other countries, these products are due to be launched in May 2016.
