Miele now offers maximum energy efficiency for less money

Gütersloh/Berlin, September 2, 2015 No. 094/2015

All washing machines with A+++ rating / Further models with PowerWash 2.0 / At least A++ for heat-pump dryers

Miele has reduced energy consumption on its washing machines and tumble dryers once again. All washing machines in the range now achieve an A+++ rating for energy efficiency or even overperform by up to 40% – and all without increasing prices! On heat-pump dryers, A++ is the new minimum standard and more models than ever before achieve the top current A+++ rating.

Within the current W1 washing machine range, almost all models previously equipped with PowerWash will feature PowerWash 2.0, an enhanced version of this system. This involves improved, load-dependent circulation pump controls and Spin&Spray wash technology for further reductions in consumption. This is achieved through multiple short interim spin cycles in the main wash whilst simultaneously spraying the laundry with soapy water. This, in turn, facilitates better and faster wetting of laundry. As a result, less water is needed in the wash process, helping save on heating energy. Even smaller loads, more common in everyday life than full loads, can now be washed particularly energy-efficiently. PowerWash 2.0 was introduced in the past year, albeit as the preserve of the flagship model from the W1 series.

'Without reducing cleaning performance, we now achieve an energy efficiency rating of A+++ minus 40%, despite a uniquely short programme cycle lasting less than 3 hours', Dr Eduard Sailer, Executive Director responsible for technology with the Miele Group, explains. On the familiar W Classic series, Miele has also optimised process technology. Here, too, all models now sport at least an A+++ rating on the label. Selected models even overperform by 10%.

Miele is also able to report further savings on its heat-pump dryers, products which already boast extremely low consumption. Alongside the flagship model, further models from the T1 series will have an A+++ energy efficiency rating from autumn onwards. The entry-line price point for an A+++ dryer will hence be approx. € 500 lower.

At the same time, Miele is to round off its T1 series through the addition of new entry-line models. More specifically, these are heat-pump dryers with a maximum load capacity of 7 kg and an A++ energy efficiency rating. Standard features include Gentle Smoothing, PerfectDry moisture sensing and FragranceDos (scenting laundry during drying). These T1 models are optionally available in the ChromeEdition and WhiteEdition design lines. Depending on the country, the recommended retail price will be around € 950.
