Miele set to present its first bagless vacuum cleaner at IFA 2016

Gütersloh/Berlin, July 6, 2016 No. 075/2016

400 machines on an area covering 3000 m² / New, faster washer-dryers with increased load capacity and automatic dispensing / Value-for-money offensive continues

Vacuum cleaning without a bag, but with excellent cleaning performance and similar levels of convenience when emptying the bag: Miele announces its key new products and features for this year's IFA in Berlin. A further focus of innovation will be laundry care - for example with washer-dryers offering a peerless mix of performance and convenience. On the washing machine front, Miele is set to unveil a thoroughly modernised and well-endowed entry-line range. Starting prices for drying with an energy efficiency rating of A+++ are set to be reduced by a further € 500.

For many years, the market leader in the field of classical canister vacuum cleaners shunned the bagless segment: 'Vacuum cleaning without a bag was previously not compatible with the calls of discerning Miele customers for high-level cleaning performance, convenience and hygiene' is the explanation given by Frank Jüttner, Managing Director of Miele's German sales subsidiary. However, as the followers of this approach to vacuum cleaning have grown steadily in numbers, product engineers at Miele have done their level best to overcome the inherent disadvantages of this method.

And not without success: 'Now we can offer our customers machines which vacuum excellently and quietly, do not create a billowing cloud of dust when emptied and leave nothing to be desired in terms of handling', says Jüttner at the recent Innovation Media Briefing, a preview of the forthcoming IFA trade show for journalists. The Blizzard CX1 is developed and produced at Miele's own Bielefeld plant. It is tested to last 20 years, sets itself apart from competitors' offerings in terms of design and will be available at attractive prices. Jüttner did not divulge any further secrets as details are to be presented by the company at IFA.

As a further highlight, Miele used the IMB platform to announce a range of new washer-dryers designed from scratch. With a maximum capacity of 8 kg, up to 5 kg of laundry can be washed and dried without having to remove items between the two cycles. This corresponds to a typical domestic load. At the same time, the new WT1 from Miele boasts all key convenience features with which the washing machines and dryers from the Miele W1 and T1 model ranges set themselves apart from the competition – including TwinDos two-phase automatic liquid dispensing.

Most convenient washer-dryer on the market

The fast and efficient PowerWash 2.0 cycle in combination with the new 'QuickPower Wash&Dry' ensures that 4 kg of laundry are washed and dried in less than 3 hours; even a 5 kg load takes only half an hour longer. The WT1 is also available with TwinDos, the world's only integrated dispenser system for two-phase liquid detergents, guaranteeing that even whites and/or heavily soiled laundry is immaculately washed.

Depending on the feature set, the WT1 can be linked to the Internet via WLAN, using a free Miele app and without any additional hardware. When detergent levels in the cartridges are low, TwinDos even automatically relays this information to a smartphone or tablet PC, ordering option inclusive.
'No other washer-dryer on the market can dispense automatically, and certainly not in combination with the shortest of cycle times', summarises Frank Jüttner.

Warm hospitality and appreciation

Visitors to this year's IFA will find Miele at its usual location in Building 2.1, with over 400 appliances on display in an area covering 3000 m². More than 250 product advisers, sales representatives and backoffice and service staff will do their utmost to ensure that dealers, specialists and end-users feel that they are in the best of hands with Miele. Acrobatics and shows on the event stage and in the display area as well as Miele's chemistry laboratory will make for both rivettingly interesting and informative product presentations in a laid-back atmosphere.

As always in a separate area, the Miele Café seating around 250 will be available for specialist dealers to discuss business matters and obtain advice in a relaxed setting. And, during the first four evenings of the trade show (Friday to Monday), dealers will be able to register for Miele's Chill-Out Party where they can bring their day at the fair to a pleasant close after 6 p.m., accompanied by good food and fine music. From extensive feedback in previous years, Frank Jüttner knows that this after-hours event has earned itself a place in the diaries of visitors to the IFA trade show. So, this year as always, Miele looks forward to as many registrations as possible from visitors to both the Miele booth and the evening events.
