Miele washing machine in pole position with Stiftung Warentest

Gütersloh, October 28, 2016 No. 130/2016

60°C wash uses less electricity thanks to PowerWash 2.0

Miele WMF 111 WPS leads the frontloading washing machine field with a mark of 1.6. In its most recent test report (Edition 11/2016), the German consumer watchdog Stiftung Warentest highlighted the environmental protection and electricity savings. In total, 8 frontloading washing machines were put through their paces on test racks.

It should be taken for granted that a washing machine washes laundry spotlessly clean. For years now, the focus has increasingly been placed on other product properties, such as environmental credentials. This covers such criteria as water and energy consumption but also includes sound emissions. The product testers confirmed that the Miele washing machine which exceeds the acceptance value for an A+++ rating by 20% leads the field. The biggest source of sound emissions on modern washing machines is the spin cycle. And here, the low noise levels on machines from Gütersloh were impressive. 'The Miele also spins quieter than the competitors', was the verdict in the test.

The test specialists above all drew particular attention to the patented PowerWash 2.0 process which allows less-than-full loads to be washed energy-efficiently. Thanks to Spin&Spray technology, which wets laundry fast by first spraying and then briefly spinning the load, uses less water than in conventional cycles in which water must first be heated. This reduces energy consumption - but not at the expense of wash temperature, as Stiftung Warentest confirms: 'The laundry is still subjected to a temperature of 60°C'. Michael Endt, product manager for laundry care products at Miele's German sales subsidiary commented: 'The test has shown once again that we offer convincing wash performance across the board with our technologies'. PowerWash 2.0 was first introduced by Miele in 2014 and more recently included on a large proportion of the range.
