Modular elegance for high-end kitchens

Gütersloh/Cologne, November 30, 2016 No. 132/2016

Miele to upgrade entry-line oven models at LivingKitchen trade fair in Cologne / Individual cooking centre with 'SmartLine'

A new series of highly configurable cooking units to meet the needs of the discerning and a considerably improved range of entry-line ovens are set to be the highlights at the Miele presentation at the forthcoming LivingKitchen. The trade show motto for the Cologne exhibition to be held on January 16-22, 2017 in hall 4.1 is 'Modular Elegance'.

Induction hob, barbecue grill, Teppan Yaki, gas ring or induction wok – with its 'SmartLine' range of appliances, Miele is setting design accents in the high-end kitchen. These units, couched in black ceramic glass, appear noble and purist. At the same time, SmartLine opens up a sheer endless range of combination options. All individual modules can be combined at will, including a countertop extractor. The latter dispenses with the need for a conventional extractor canopy and creates elegance and individual design, in particular in cooking islands in open-plan kitchens. This diversity is duly reflected in the range of food processing options which SmartLine offers to ambitious and budding chefs.

Greater performance, increased convenience and enhanced elegance is what the new 'Active' range of ovens brings to the table. With a volume of 76 l, these newcomers boast an extra-large oven interior. The machine display - with a clock, rotary selectors and touch buttons - has been the subject of an upgrade. In combination with the stainless-steel fascia and the black glass door, Active units exude a contemporary, elegant feeling. Despite these additional features, this entry-line oven offering excellent value will be available at € 599; the starting price for a unit with pyrolytic cleaning is € 849, lower than ever before (in both cases RRP in Germany). 'This is just another building block in our value-for-money offensive which we expect to significantly grow both unit sales and market shares', says Gernot Trettenbrein, head of Miele's Domestic Appliances International business unit.

SmartLine and Active appliances are due to be launched in spring 2017.

In Cologne, the company will have 270 appliances on show on an area covering just under 1,000 m². The open-plan booth will comprise three islands with live demonstrations serving culinary titbits as well as a café able to seat more than 100, offering ample space and a relaxed atmosphere for discussions accompanied by good fare. The café will also be the venue for the evening events to which Miele cordially invites its trade partners on the first three days of the show (Monday to Wednesday).
