From mid-May, Miele Professional will be offering new, network-enabled cleaning and disinfection appliances for medical and podiatry practices under the name ExpertLine – tailored to the specific requirements of each application. The illuminated wash cabinet of the 60- and 90-cm-wide undercounter machines makes loading easier, and the colour touch display is intuitive to use. Innovative technology such as the pressure and spray arm monitoring ensures safe and efficient instrument reprocessing. Two systems are available for subsequent drying.

The design of the Miele under-counter models meets even the most exacting requirements and received the prestigious iF Design Award 2024 before its market launch. The appliances feature standard wash cabinet lighting, which facilitates loading and unloading. They are available in both white and stainless steel versions, with the stainless steel appliances also featuring a glass door. This ensures that instruments remain visible at all times during reprocessing.

The language displayed on the screen can be changed at any time. The current status of the reprocessing is easy to read even from a distance of several metres. Cycles can be released directly on the device, which simplifies process documentation for everyday use. It also provides practice personnel with digital support for routine tasks that can be carried out independently – with visual elements that make operation easier, provide ‘help for self-help’ and can reduce downtime. A maximum of 21 programmes and 5 free programme slots are available for individual requirements.

Monitoring functions for reliable programme sequences

In all new cleaning and disinfection devices, a patented, variable-speed pump adjusts the water pressure as required. The supply of water and drying air from the rear wall ensure efficient cleaning. A spray arm and spray pressure monitoring feature monitors the progress of each programme and detects blockages caused by large instruments, among other things.

Two drying systems support the optimised workflows. In addition to appliances with active drying, models with an AutoOpen function are also available. The door opens automatically at the end of the programme as soon as the temperature in the wash cabinet has reached a safe level. This allows the remaining air to escape quickly and the instruments to dry rapidly. A steam condenser removes any moisture remaining in the wash cabinet to the outside. A highly efficient HEPA air filter (class H13) prevents particles from the ambient air entering the drying system and settling on the instruments. There is also a central filter for reprocessing narrow-lumen instruments, which can be reused almost indefinitely, thus enabling significant cost savings on consumables.

High capacity for surgical instruments and accessories

The new appliances can be equipped with matching baskets, inserts, adapters and programme packages for instruments and accessories used in surgical disciplines, including minimally invasive surgery (MIS). This ensures that a single cycle can hold up to eight sieve trays, two MIS sets, three sets of anesthesia equipment or 28 surgical shoes. Standardised cleaning processes create the ideal conditions for maximum hygiene.

Properly reprocessing hollow instruments in ENT practices

ExpertLine devices also reliably prepare up to 44 hollow instruments from ear, nose and throat practices – including internal cleaning. There is also space for additional instruments in the corresponding baskets. A special programme for ENT instruments and optics not only ensures that they retain their value, but also provides the best possible protection for patients and practice staff thanks to validated processes.

Equipment for reprocessing gynecological instruments

Miele has developed another range for gynecological speculums and other instruments used in this field. It removes organic contamination and serves as a prophylactic measure against Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease. Here too, suitable baskets and inserts enable high capacity, for example for 48 speculums per reprocessing cycle.

Tray system for ophthalmic practices

To meet the high hygiene requirements in ophthalmic practices, Miele not only offers tailored cleaning procedures, but also a stainless steel filter that enables particularly thorough filtration of organic particles. The delicate instruments used for eye surgery are cleaned in a tray system that is designed for high throughput. Eight Miele A 314 ophthalmology trays for hollow instruments and eight additional sieve trays for other instruments can be reprocessed per cycle.

Preserving the value of podiatry instruments

Organic contamination is a major challenge for podiatric instruments. Special baskets and inserts ensure that cutters, pliers and scissors remain in their places and are hygienically reprocessed using validated processes.

Across all disciplines, all of the new cleaning and disinfection machines are network-enabled and can be connected to the Miele MOVE MedDent+ digital platform. This allows machine data to be viewed on mobile devices and process data to be documented from any location.

To ensure reliable availability in everyday practice use, central components are located in positions that are easier for Miele Customer Service to reach than with the previous generation. This significantly reduces the time required for maintenance work. Designed for at least 15,000 operating hours and with spare parts available for at least 15 years, the new machines from Miele Professional are sustainable and reliable team members for everyday work.
