New, energy-efficient motorised slimline hood appears out of wall unit

Automatically to the fore when needed

With its current range of slimline cooker hoods, Miele is admirably demonstrating just how elegantly and inconspicuously ventilation technology can be integrated into a kitchen. Top energy-efficient models with a motor-driven canopy now round off the Miele range.

A special feature of the 60 cm and 90 cm slimline hoods (DA 3660 and DA 3690) is the fact that, when switched off, the machines disappear behind cabinetry fronts. Only when the unit is switched on or at the touch of a button on the remote control provided does the 14 mm slim deflector appear as if from nowhere. Thanks to the very compact design, these hoods can even be integrated into wall units with a height of only 35 cm.

And all other technical features are of the same pedigree: Miele uses a DC motor which, compared with a conventional AC unit, slashes electricity consumption by 70%. These are accompanied by high-power LED spotlights specially developed for Miele to reduce consumption to only 3 W per lamp. The light produced by these LED downlights, which are tested to last 20 years, is warm white.

The new slimline hoods are fitted ex works with Con@ctivity 2.0. Con@ctivity adjusts suction power automatically by pre-empting what is happening on the hob below, guaranteeing a pleasant room micro-climate. Con@ctivity 2.0 is a development on the previous system, now facilitating radio-frequency communication between hob and hood. Installation is incredibly simple as all cooker hoods featuring Con@ctivity 2.0 are delivered with a plug-in RF antenna for Plug & Play use on any Con@ctivity-enabled (Miele) hob unit. Optionally, the units can be controlled via light-touch switches or the remote control unit supplied. Automatic canopy action via the Con@ctivity feature when the hob below is switched on is both an eye-catching feature and a talking point.

The new slimline cooker hoods are available optionally as vented or recirculation models. Connection to an external fan unit is also possible.

The new models will be available from April 2014.
