• Three patents set new standards in laundry care

With the introduction of the PowerWash PRO system, Miele Professional is setting new standards of efficiency for its tried-and-tested ‘Benchmark’ washing machines. By harnessing cutting-edge technology, the washing process has been optimised to use water, energy and time even more effectively, resulting in improved overall performance. In 12, 16 and 20 kg models, PowerWash PRO delivers faster saturation of textiles and reduces cycle times by up to ten minutes per load.

PowerWash PRO technology ensures that the detergent takes effect immediately: a circulation pump directs the washing solution through a nozzle directly into the drum and distributes it evenly throughout the textiles as a powerful jet of water. This ensures that the laundry is thoroughly moistened right from the start. At the same time, the pump creates a powerful cross-flow that intensifies the mechanical cleaning effect and loosens dirt particularly effectively. The water jet moistens the textiles from the inside out and improves heat transfer – for shorter programmes, lower energy consumption and flawless results.

Because both water and detergent wet the textiles with pinpoint accuracy, cycle times, water use and energy consumption are all reduced. The ‘coloured wash’ programme of a 20 kg capacity machine hooked up to a cold water supply finishes in just 45 minutes – ten minutes faster than before. If you include the drying time of a suitable tumble dryer (28 minutes), you can process 20 kg of laundry in just 73 minutes. This adds up to one or two extra wash cycles per day. Water consumption in the washing machine sees a reduction of up to 14.1 litres, meaning that this programme now uses just 109 litres. Additionally, it uses 17 per cent less energy than before (just 2.32 kWh per cycle).

“As a pioneer of laundry technology, Miele Professional is setting new benchmarks with PowerWash PRO and its three related patents,” says Sebastian Veith, manager of the Miele production site in Lehrte, where the commercial washing machines are produced. Not only is the new nozzle geometry in the sight glass patented, which ensures that the water enters the drum as a fine, even jet, thus distributing the liquid precisely and optimally moistening the laundry, but also an innovative separation point on the appliance door, which improves installation, maintenance and tightness, among other things. Another patent applies to the entire system, including the circulation pump, suction line and pressure line, enabling a particularly resource-efficient and effective wash process. Together, these features pave the way for further progress, such as the development of new, innovative wash programmes.
