The steak is sizzling away, the air is full of the smell of freshly grilled vegetable kebabs and the dashboard of the Otto Wilde app shows the various temperature zones on the G32 Connected – what many kickstarters envisaged at the start of the Otto Wilde campaign has now become reality for all those who provided financial backing in Germany and Austria. At the end of August, last shipments were dispatched to meet early dealer orders for the G32 Connected in Germany and Austria. Pre-ordered units in Germany and Switzerland will also be shipped over the coming weeks.

Alongside the G32 Connected, resellers also have access to a large proportion of the modules already announced for the Otto Wilde Platform, an individual, modular and customisable outdoor kitchen. Alongside the practical stainless-steel extension shelf (T16), the small storage unit (S16) and its medium-size counterpart (S24), a large version (S32) and modules for washing dishes and cooking (C16) will be available from October, all made from high-grade stainless steel and featuring the quiet SoftClose System. Furthermore, all other development work on extensions to the Otto Wilde Platform have been concluded.

One highlight of the G32 Connected is its connectivity option: at the touch of a button, the gas grill connects via Bluetooth or WiFi to a smartphone running the Otto Wilde app. From the app's dashboard, various data can be read out from the G32 Connected during operation to control grilling – including the independently adjustable temperatures in the various grilling zones as well as whether the actual temperature drops below or exceeds the selected value. The same applies to overseeing food as it grills, with up to four core temperature probes monitoring progress.

In addition to this, grilling enthusiasts know precisely how much gas is still left in the cylinder thanks to GasBuddy, the integrated bottle-weighing scales on the G32 Connected. The threat of an empty gas bottle putting an evening barbecue at risk is now truly a thing of the past.

The completion of deliveries to kickstarters marks a key milestone for Otto Wilde and Miele, after both companies jointly announced in the summer of 2021 that shipments of the G32 Connected would only commence in the second quarter of 2022 due to ongoing optimisation work. 'In view of the Corona situation in China and the associated challenges of transporting units to Germany, we were only initially able to deliver limited numbers of products from April onwards', explains joint Executive Director Alexander Luik. 'We are all the more pleased that deliveries to all kickstarters in Germany and Austria are now complete'. Gernot Trettenbrein, Senior Vice President of the New Growth Factory at Miele, added: 'The G32 Connected excels in terms of its quality, design and innovative features. The first users are thrilled with both the workmanship and the product's functionality, confirming that it was the right decision to delay the launch last summer'.

Focus on shipments to specialist dealers at the same time as meeting pre-orders

Once products have been shipped to all kickstarters and all pre-orders have been met, the team at Otto Wilde will devote itself to the next challenges: 'Currently we are shipping to our loyal pre-orderers and dealers. With a view to all modules and the G32 Connected, we will be able to honour all incoming orders to the full in the course of the fourth quarter', Luik stresses. Barbecue fans will then be able to see and buy grills and modules at over 70 locations throughout Germany.
