Simplified installation of island canopies / More models with Con@ctivity, energy-saving motors and durable LEDs

To coincide with the IFA trade show, Miele is set to launch a major cooker hood product offensive. Alongside the new machines which are due for market launch over the coming months, existing models will also be upgraded with respect to features and energy efficiency.

All island canopies from April 2014 onwards will feature a telescopic chimney section. This simplifies installation on site as it allows the canopy to be set at the most convenient height for the customer. Instead of using ceiling trim, the chimney fits flush against the ceiling; optionally, a 10 mm shadow gap (included) can be used to accommodate any surface unevenness.

Con@ctivity ensures additional convenience during cooking. This Miele development adjusts suction power automatically by pre-empting what is happening on the hob below, guaranteeing a pleasant room micro-climate. Con@ctivity 2.0 is a development on the previous release, now facilitating reliable radio-frequency communication between hob and hood. Now that the first models are already on the market, Miele will continue to convert further cooker hoods to this new RF communication standard. Here, too, installation is incredibly simple as all cooker hoods featuring Con@ctivity 2.0 are delivered with a plug-in RF antenna for Plug & Play use on any Con@ctivity enabled (Miele) hob unit. Optionally, a series of wall and island hoods will also be available with remote controls from April 2014.

LED spots are liked for their low power consumption, with a 2 W bulb usually replacing a 20 W halogen spot. On selected Miele hoods, high-performance LED downlights which were specifically developed for Miele have been in use for some time. These produce a warm white light and are tested to last 20 years, obviating the need to replace a light throughout the entire anticipated life cycle of the product itself. With the new generation of decor hoods, Miele will in future have considerably more models in its line-up fitted ex works with high-quality and energy-efficient high-performance LED downlights.

Further energy efficiency comes from the use of DC motors which require up to 70% less electricity compared with conventional AC motors. Whereas to date only few models featured these innovative fans, Miele has now raised the bar once again by implementing this technology on further top models. Taken together, LED spotlights and DC motors make a significant contribution towards the conservation of resources.
