Safe protective workwear – ready for use again in only two and a half hours

Gütersloh/Hanover, June 8, 2015 No. 086/2015

Washing, reproofing and drying with Miele laundry technology

What is good for call-outs is equally valid when it comes to reprocessing protective apparel: Speed and flexibility are of the essence in cleaning trousers, jackets and chemical protective suits. In only two and a half hours, washer-extractors and tumble dryers from Miele Professional ensure clean, reproofed and dry textiles – whilst at the same time guaranteeing the maximum protection of delicate retro-reflective strips.

With special programmes for up to 5 complete firefighters' suits or 4 chemical protection suits (depending on machine size), Miele machines readily adapt to the various requirements of fire stations. Further special programmes are available for rescue blankets, breathing masks and smart uniforms. Washer-extractors can, for instance, both wash and reproof or, as required, only wash or reproof. Reproofing agent applied in the washer-extractor is later activated in a tumble dryer. Miele's Profitronic M freely programmable controls offer 199 slots for special programmes. These allow individual parameters such as water levels, temperatures and the point in time at which the dispensing of detergent and reproofing agent takes place to be customised to suit individual needs.

Miele's patented honeycomb drum goes a long way towards protecting textiles during washing and drying. Its sculptured web-shaped surface creates a thin film of water on which textiles glide during washing and a cushion of air during drying. Furthermore, SoftLift ribs with their smoothly rounded edges reduce the mechanical strain on jackets and trousers. Sensors integrated into the ribs measure the residual moisture content of laundry as it tumbles and uses this information to determine when the desired degree of dryness has been reached. Miele tumble dryers with the patented Air Recycling Plus System also guarantee that impermeable jackets and trousers are fully dried – even on multi-ply garments.
