Thoroughness and convenience in large kitchens: New passthrough dishwashers from Miele

Gütersloh/Essen, April 26, 2022 No. 027/2022
  • Lower running costs thanks to improved spray arms and filtration system

  • Intuitive display which can be used with gloved hands

With a new generation of passthrough dishwashers, Miele is rounding off its comprehensive portfolio to cater for all the individual needs of commercial clients. The PTD 901 has replaced familiar models for large kitchens – offering users greater convenience than ever before, for instance with a display which is simple and convenient to use and virtually eliminates the human error factor. All model versions still offer the usual short cycle times and a capacity of just under 1300 plates per hour.

Lower running costs combined with placing a reduced burden on the environment is possible with the efficient cleaning system on board the PTD 901 model series. Redesigned spray arms with stainless-steel bearings reduce friction during rotation, resulting in the need for far less water to propel the arms. This reduces water consumption to 2.2 l per cycle, equating to savings of 8% compared with the previous generation.

In the case of the 'Eco' version with its energy-efficient system which combines heat recovery from both waste air and waste water, a new filter prevents any ingress of fats and grease into the heat exchanger. The grease filter is easy to remove and can also be washed in a dishwasher. A further benefit of the 'Eco' version: By extracting the heat from waste air and water, this system saves not only energy: The air in the kitchen remains far cooler than with a machine without these heat recovery features.

The user convenience of Miele passthrough dishwashers has also been ratcheted up a notch. The heart and soul of the new machines is the toughened-glass touch display which allows simpler and more intuitive control of a machine, even when wearing gloves. Self-explanatory icons, for instance, simplify the selection of dishwashing programmes, say for mixed loads, glassware or plates. All programmes can be set to the relevant water hardness and other on-site parameters.

Two further innovative solutions also reduce time and effort. An improved filtration system removes food residue more thoroughly from the water in circulation. This can now capture two and a half times the amount of soil before the water in the tank must be replaced – without compromising results in the least. The optional 'Lift' feature simplifies everyday work: It allows automatic opening and closing of the lid, also speeding up drying after the wash cycle. This does away with a lot of the work in the scullery – a clear benefit in terms of ergonomics and occupational safety. If a trapped item of crockery gets in the way of an opening or closing door, the process is immediately halted and an error message appears in the display.
