Generation 6000: Elegance, convenience and perfection / Sales growth 'in mid-range single digits'

Today at the LivingKitchen trade show being staged in Cologne, Miele has unveiled an entirely new generation of built-in kitchen appliances ranging from ovens, steam cookers, coffee machines and microwave ovens to cooker hoods. 'Our Generation 6000 stands for even greater elegance, versatility and user convenience in the kitchen', claimed Dr. Reinhard Zinkann, Managing Director and Co-Proprietor, at an exhibition press conference held today by the leading Gütersloh-based premium manufacturer.

Under the 'Design for Life' motto, Miele is presenting visitors to the show with more than 200 built-in appliances from two design lines on an area covering around 1000 m²: 'PureLine', with its reduced design, lends itself above all to open-plan kitchens and is available throughout in all four colour schemes. For the classic single-room kitchen, on the other hand, the range of choice is ContourLine. 'Miele is offering a perfect fit for all living styles', stated Miele chief designer Andreas Enslin at the company press conference. The idea of a 'fleet' design is promoted by striking cross-category design elements such as an array of sensor switches in identical positions on all models.

'Design for Life' also stands for the ultimate in creature comforts and pleasure, starting with user convenience: Here, Miele offers 5 control sets, each featuring the pushbutton array, ranging from conventional rotary selectors through to sensor controls and the intuitive and 'smart' touch controls based on a high-resolution colour TFT display. 'Thanks to the exemplary cross-product design and our coherent approach to user interfaces across the entire range, it has never been easier to combine models and sets of controls from the various product categories', Christian Gerwens, head of Miele’s German sales subsidiary, confirmed.

Under the heading 'Technical Perfection for Connoisseurs', Gerwens presented the new technical highlights which are unique to Miele to press representatives. These range for example from new PyroFit oven interior fittings for even simpler cleaning to even faster and more precise steam cookers and intelligently networked cooker hoods through to coffee machines whose delivery spout automatically adjusts to the height of the cup or glass.

At the close of today's press conference, Dr. Markus Miele, Managing Director and Co-Proprietor, provided a first forecast for the current 2012/13 financial year which is due to end on June 30, 2013. Presuming there is not another 'sudden collapse of the world economy', Miele foresees growth over the entire business year 'in mid-range single digits'. Miele: 'Above-average growth continues to come from high-end built-in kitchen appliances'.
