World premiere for the G8 Diamond: Miele dishwasher takes the thinking out of dishwashing

  • The Miele App* takes personal preferences into account and automates the start

  • An enhanced basket design and new touch display make loading and operation easier

Dishwashers take over the clean up. The thinking, so far, they don’t. Is the dishwasher already full? Which programme option suits the load? Is there enough detergent left? Will I remember to start it later? And will everything really be dry by tomorrow morning? Miele aims to answer precisely these everyday questions with its top-of-the-range ‘Diamond’ model from the new G8 generation of appliances. For the first time, an integrated camera, variable hot air drying, automatic dispensing and the Miele App work together intelligently. For users, this means: they can load the dishwasher, close the door – and can rely on clean and dry dishes ready for use again the next morning.

Many technologies that are now an integral part of everyday life take care of decisions and tasks that once required our attention. With the G8 Diamond, Miele is bringing this same approach to dishwashing. “What matters is what our technologies achieve together: They take decisions off people’s minds and provide the reassurance that the job will be done reliably,” says Dr. Michael Junker, Head of Miele’s Dishwashing Business Unit.

See, dispense, dry – the dishwasher regulates the wash cycle itself

With AutoVision, the G8 Diamond knows how full it is and what is inside. An integrated camera analyses the interior with image processing and AI-based recognition models. The crucial difference: the dishwasher uses this information directly for the wash cycle. For example, if it detects pots, it automatically increases the cleaning intensity; for bottles, it optimises the wash cycle for their internal cleaning. For plastic items, it selects the appropriate drying. This means that the appropriate setting for the current load no longer needs to be decided anew each time.

ExcellentDry turns ‘clean’ into ‘ready to put away’. Plastic items and cups with recesses in the base, in particular, often need drying by hand after washing. The newly developed hot air system of the G8 Diamond actively directs heated air through the interior. Users choose once between three drying levels; the preference is then applied automatically. Depending on the setting, the G8 Diamond achieves an energy efficiency of up to A −25% or a particularly high drying performance – even resulting in cupboard-dry plastic dishes. The dishes can go straight into the cupboard – the tea towel stays in the drawer.

Dispensing detergent also disappears from the daily to-do list. Back in 2018, Miele introduced AutoDos with integrated PowerDisk, the world’s first automatic dispensing system for dishwashers – to this day, no other manufacturer offers such a solution. The PowerDisk contains powder granulate that AutoDos releases in the required quantity and at the right time in the programme. No manual dispensing – always the right amount of detergent.

In combination with the Miele App, this creates a system that takes into account not only the actual load, but also personal preferences. These settings are entered once in the Miele App and the appliance follows them from then on. For example, users can specify that the dishwasher only starts when it is 80 percent full – but not before 10 p.m. Alternatively, the start can be linked to sufficient available energy from their own photovoltaic system. Once set up, this recurring decision is also taken care of – and can be adjusted at any time with just a few simple steps if needed.

In this combination, the G8 Diamond system is unique worldwide: it factors in what is actually in the appliance, how the dishes should be cleaned and dried, and what personal preferences apply to everyday life. Instead of following the wash cycle step by step, users can delegate the task.

More space when loading, less complexity when operating

The new simplicity begins even before the programme starts. Particularly practical: the enhanced cutlery drawer becomes a true third loading tier. One side can be lowered, so that it now holds coffee cups for the first time. Hinged rows of spikes and optimised holders create additional space for items of crockery of all shapes and sizes – for less rearranging and fewer items that ultimately need to be washed by hand. Operation has also been rethought. The full-graphic touch display guides users clearly through programmes and settings and presents the relevant information at a glance. A new, darker interior finish rounds off the revised design and continues Miele’s commitment to quality down to the last detail.

The G8 Diamond thus extends what a dishwasher takes on in everyday life: not only washing dishes, but also many of the decisions surrounding them. The dishes are loaded, the door is closed – the rest is taken care of by the interplay between the appliance and the App. The next morning, reliably clean and dry dishes await.

The G8 Diamond will be launched in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in April 2027. Further countries will follow.
