At the Interschutz trade fair in Hanover, Miele Professional will be presenting a comprehensive range of products designed to ensure the safe and efficient reprocessing of protective equipment used by fire brigades. The company offers everything from a single source, including high-performance washing machines, specialised drying solutions and digital services to enhance safety, hygiene and transparency in day-to-day operations.

The focus is on the “Benchmark” washing machines, which are designed to meet a wide range of requirements. The largest models now feature even bigger drum capacities and can handle loads of between 9 kg and 35 kg. Combined with a weighing plinth, they automatically weigh and record the load size, thus making the washing machines even more efficient and enabling greater savings in terms of water, energy, detergent and time. Compatible tumble dryers, with a load capacity of between 10 kg and 44 kg, are also available, thus providing the ideal solution for equipping both smaller fire brigades and larger facilities with a high throughput.

PowerGuard PRO for reliable reproofing

The machines make it possible to fully reprocess personal protective equipment such as multiple-layer jackets and trousers, as well as helmets, gloves and safety harnesses. Specially designed programmes ensure thorough cleaning without damaging fabric, thanks to defined wash temperatures and optimised wash cycles. In addition, the innovative PowerGuard PRO technology precisely sprays an impregnation agent onto the outside of textiles, while simultaneously using considerably less water and impregnation agents, resulting in significant cost savings with every wash cycle. Intuitive controls with touchscreens, combined with ergonomic features such as the “OneFingerTouch” locking system, simplify daily work routines.

In the case of particularly stringent hygiene requirements, Miele offers barrier washing machines that ensure a strict segregation of soiled and clean equipment. These are available with load capacities of 16 kg, 24 kg or 32 kg. The two-door barrier system prevents contaminated particles from coming into contact with textiles that have already been cleaned – a crucial factor when dealing with hazardous residues such as soot, chemicals or asbestos. Depending on the drum size, several full protective suits can be reprocessed at the same time in a single wash cycle.

Drying units for sensitive or rigid equipment

The portfolio is rounded off by high-performance drying solutions. In addition to conventional tumble dryers, special drying cabinets designed specifically for sensitive or rigid equipment can also be used. Miele offers two versions: a compact model 60 cm wide and a larger version that is 120 cm wide and has a capacity of up to 15 kg. Clothes and equipment can be dried hanging or lying flat in the cabinets, a process that is gentle, efficient and a lot faster than air-drying. This activates the reproofing of the protective clothing, thus ensuring it is ready for use again immediately.

Digital connectivity is a key element in modern-day fire brigade logistics. The “Miele MOVE Connect” platform makes it possible to monitor and operate appliances and processes in real time. Users receive status updates directly on their smartphone, tablet or PC, for example when programmes have finished or capacity has become available. The platform also makes it possible to analyse and document process data such as temperatures and cycle times, and to quickly contact the service team. This reduces distances, saves time and increases transparency across the entire process.

All solutions are designed to optimise workflows at the fire station, conserve resources while also complying with the most stringent safety and hygiene standards. Thanks to scalable unit sizes and modular system solutions, individual requirements can be met at both smaller stations and large professional fire brigades or emergency services.
