SteelcoBelimed, the worldwide leading provider of solutions for infection control and reprocessing of sterile goods, has opened a new academy for internal training in Riese Pio X, Italy. This facility marks a major milestone in the company’s commitment: its aim is to further develop industry standards and provide first-class solutions in the area of AEMP (medical device reprocessing units).
As the joint venture SteelcoBelimed, created in 2024 from the merger of Miele’s Steelco Group and the Metall Zug Gruppe’s Belimed companies, Infection Control and Life Science, Miele is strengthening the Business Unit Miele Professional for the long term. “We founded SteelcoBelimed with the aim of becoming the most customer-centred, innovative and reliable solution partner in our industry,” said CEO Christian Kluge during the opening ceremony. “Today we have achieved an important milestone on our way to that goal. The new Academy is our central knowledge hub. It connects our customers, operators, sales, service and engineering teams.”
Enhancing customer value in healthcare
The opening was attended by management, more than 400 employees of SteelcoBelimed and the mayor of Riese Pio X, Ombretta Basso. The academy is a newly constructed building and features training rooms equipped with fully functional solutions for sterilisation – including cleaning and disinfection equipment, sterilisers, endoscope reprocessing devices and components for logistics and automation. It also includes large meeting rooms and a spacious 230 square metre auditorium. This makes it possible to organise well over 1,000 comprehensive training and education sessions a year, as well as larger conferences and digital events.
“The SteelcoBelimed Academy is a concrete expression of our customer-centred philosophy,” explained Alessandro Caprara, CEO Infection Control. “By investing in this state-of-the-art training facility, we are reaffirming our responsibility to our customers – a responsibility that extends far beyond the actual point of sale. Our solutions only realise their full value when they are used by highly trained specialists. The Academy provides the ideal framework for this: it promotes practical dialogue as well as the targeted transfer of knowledge.”
Comprehensive training programmes
The academy, which serves SteelcoBelimed’s infection control, laboratory and biomedical research divisions, has already started its first training courses. A dedicated team of specialists contributes their extensive expertise. Luca Carlesso, Academy Director: “Our facility symbolises SteelcoBelimed’s commitment to continuously developing the entire field of sterile processing. While this first step is focusing on internal training for our sales and service organisations, in future the Academy will also support customer events and promote a ’train-the-trainer’ approach, enabling our experts worldwide to empower AEMP staff to take full advantage of our solutions. This expertise contributes directly to greater patient safety and higher AEMP efficiency.”
